My tastebuds give the nod to Zatarain's.

Zat's by +1000 for me. I don't buy any La. Products if I can help it.

Louisiana fish fry products. I like to support local when I can.

Zatarains is way to inconsistent, and too salty... personally wouldn't choose either one. There are far better products out there. Not sure where you are at, but if you can find Swamp Dust, its much better. Doesn't taste like a head of celery either.

+1 I've been using Cajunland and supplementing with Liquid crab boil for extra heat. I like Cajunland the best of the "major brands".
I'm a sucker for the boutique blends though, so I end up trying one of the specialty types every year.
Achafalya Gold is good, but not better than Zats.
Swamp Fire is also good. Better than national brands.
Can't think of the name but it's like Boudreauxs Swamp Boil or something. Not good at all...
I'm think I'm going to end up experimenting by mixing my own soon. Those first few sacks are going to SUCK until I get the proportions of each spice right.

if you get it down there is a spot near Breaux Bridge/Laf (Cargill's, i think) that will professionally mix and package your blend for you if you bring them the exact specs. I forgot the exact minumum poundage required.
for the original question, the only Zat's product i care for at all is the pro-boil powder which i do like. I might like LA Fish fry a tad bit better, but it's close. Either way, i still doctor up either one with chinese red pepper, garlic, etc to get the flavor i want without too much salt.

Gotta go with Zatarains. Not a big fan of the Pro Boil, but the Extra Spicy is money. Plus my mom works at Zat's, so I have to throw them some props.

I've got to admit that Louisiana brand puts out a quality tartar sauce.

I was a HUGE zats fan but i converted to louisiana this year. The flavor is much better than zats IMO and for 90% of the people I boiled for this year.

Louisiana Powder
Zatarains Liquid
Gotta use both of them together

i always use the zatarain's proboil and louisiana liquid together.
for fish fry, it's louisiana all the way.

agreed.
i even like their seasoning in the orange can much better than tony's or zat's (which is the worst i have tasted from local products).
