I couldn't find a single poll in which they were ranked #1 or #2.

Hopefully LSU will not prove them right. To listen to the announces in both the games yesterday you would think LSU was the 1 and tx was a 20

and yet, they are one of the final 2 teams playing, Yep, the committee really screwed the pooch on making a team that makes the finals the #1 overall seed

I actually believe this is the most balanced, best team I've seen play for LSU.

That's not the question. Exactly what criteria did they meet? I'm not bitching or anything was just curious.

Mainieri got rid of the players that were unbalanced.

no sure, I think they have so RPI type formula. UT had a good record against ranked teams etc. I think they had some good OCC games, stuff like that, any way what does it matter?

Similar to the BCS in 2003 and earlier. The higher rankings go to the most deserving teams, not necessarily the best teams. LSU lost some terrible midweek games that hurt the RPI, which is heavily factored in. The seeding isn't for who is the best team, but which one has done the most to earn it. Like in 2003, the RPI/BCS will tell you the most deserving team without bias while the polls are a beauty contest until the final one.

A Texas official was on the seeding committe = home cooking.

Looks like the seeding might have backfired on Texas; they definitley have had the harder road in their bracket.

Texas has great pitchcing and has had timely hitting to reach the finals. They seem to play down or up to their opponents.

RPI. Texas had the #2 overall RPI, won the #1 rated conference in terms of RPI, and had a comparable record to every other highly rated team in the country. It's not like Texas hasn't proven it deserved a top seed.

I believe it is because of the RPI.

Home cooking, yes, but it was a Big 12 official, he wasn't from Texas. Texas had a high RPI, but the Big 12 was NOT the top rated coference. They were third behind SEC and ACC.
They should have had LSU at #1 and Texas at #3, but it really doesn't matter at this point, nor does it matter that 8 of the 10 teams from the Big 12 got in (should have been 6) and, aside from Texas, didn't fare well.

Texas was/is a good team and deserved a top 8 seed. It should be a good series.

I don't know how RPI is calculated or how teams are seeded. What I do know is LSU is better than ASU, OU, FSU or CSF. We went 7 - 0 against those teams and 1 - 4 against LSU. Makes them #1 in my book.
