I have a propane tank thats about 1/2 - 3/4 full and I'll be boiling about 100 - 125 lbs of crawfish next weekend with corn, potatoes, etc. 100qt pot. How much propane am I likely to go through?

owning two tanks is the way to go.
You dont waste any propane so you're prolly save
money with a two tank system.
eta: the only person who knows how much propane your burner uses is you.

That would be three batches so you should be good. I would think you should get five or six batches out of a full bottle.
I don't boil my crawfish for very long.
I bring the pot to a rapid boil, put the crawfish in, bring it back to a boil for five to ten minutes and shut it down. Let 'em soak for another ten.

I've got another tank that's easily accessable (it's my buddy's) I just needed to know if I need to make the call. My burner is brand new, so I'm not sure how much propane it's going to use.
Thanks
Thanks

Why don't you just go fill it up?

Ask Hank Hill at Strickland Propane.

You should be fine...but if possible, cover your water to get it to a boil faster. Also, like mentioned earlier, get the crawfish back to a boil, boil VERY briefly, cook till they float, kill it, soak till they sink.
also, owning 2 bottles is really the best way. Have a friend bring one just in case.

I usually use a tank of propane for every 2 or so sacks of c-fish.

I normally get 4-5 sacks, one of us is doing it wrong.

I think your mistaken. You could get 5 sacks easily out of a tank. I think you could do as many as 8.

Damn, those are some expensive crawfish.

Depends so much on the burner.
I boil my large pot with a burner that was made from one of those gas hot water heater elements.
It can boil it in a damn hurry, even in the wind, but it absolutely eats propane. I can do about 150 pounds on a tank.
My small burner will last forever. Just one of those run of the mill burners you see everywhere. I would imagine it would go all day if you were patient enough to deal with it.

Also depends on the size of the pot. I have a high pressure regulator and a 120 qt pot. I usually have to change tanks on my third boil.
