my uncle is in town from up north and is really looking forward to some good Louisiana food. He particularly wants food that he can't get up there (cajun/seafood). We already plan to go to Prejeans. What are some other really good Lafayette restaurants?

Poor Boys Riverside Inn in Broussard and The Blue Dog Cafe on Pinhook are my favorites other than Prejeans.

I was about to say Poor Boys Riverside Inn.

Fezzos in Scott. Both are my choices aren't really in Lafayette

The place next to Shooters isn't bad. They have real good oysters... The name slips my mind right now. Also, Zea's wouldn't be bad..

I'd skip Prejeans and the Blue Dog. Absolutely agree with Poor Boys. That's the place to go. I'd go to Nash's near Poor Boys as well.

I'd eat at Don's downtown before I'd set foot in Prejean's. Get the fried shrimp, crabclaws and the shrimp gumbo. They do a good job on the gumbos, crawfish bisque and fried seafoods. The shrimp are lightly battered, crisp and perfectly done. It gets a bad rap for some other foods, sometimes. The seafood in the gumbos at Prejeans are overcooked in my opinion.

Go to Chez Francois and pick up boiled crab, crawfish and shrimp and maybe a pound of jumbo lump. Now, that's a good sampling of LA food.

I think the place next to Lafayette Shooter's is Phares.

Although not in Lafayette, Chef Roy's in Rayne has very good food and some interesting dishes.

thanks guys... Poor Boy's definitely looks like a winner. Their menu looks very good. However, not a very large dessert menu.

The Blue Dog Sunday brunch is superb, but make sure you call far in advance and make reservations.

I definitely agree with the riverside inn suggestions. My gf and I go there about once a month and have never been dissatisfied. Blue dog brunch is great as well as broken egg in river ranch. If you want to make a little drive, I would suggest goin to The steamboat in Washington

eta: Go pick up some best stop boudin for them too! And as for desserts, Fresh market in RR has an excellent dessert showcase.

I want to say that Riverside gets most of it's dessert from Gambino's or Poupart's bakery. I'm usually stuffed and can't eat dessert.
