Prejeans=Stuckeys. Riverside is really, really good and their homemade bread pudding is made from their homemade rolls, gotta have that/ Phares is good, best for raw on the half shell as the family owns all of their own beds.Thursday is Oyster night fyi and it is the place next to LFT SHOOTERS

I forgot about Randol's. It's a hoot with the Cajun dancing. I've had some very good meals there the last few times I've eaten there and the gumbos and crawfish bisque were excellent. Beats Prejean's by miles. I had a great shrimp app there with a ginger and cane type sauce. It's a relatively new dish, maybe a year old, I'd guess. See the menu.

Go by Poupart's and pick up some desserts and have them at home.

I can't recall what we had for dessert at Poor Boys or Randol's. Poor Boys has some sweet potato beignets that look fun to try.

Prejean's is great. They also have Cajun Dancing. The Crawfish Enchilada's and homemade Salad Dressing is awesome.

I've always liked Prejean's, but I gotta admit, the past couple of times I've gone I've been disappointed. It's still better than Randol's, though.

It is, in my opinion, but I'm picky, so what do I know. It's not "bad", but it's definitely not "great" for me. You'll get a lot of opinions. Maybe, you should try it and some of the others and decide for yourself.

Go to Poupart's bakery on Pinhook @ Kaliste Saloom next to T-Coon's. You are in dessert heaven at Poupart's ... its' like someplace in Paris. Also their french bread is outta sight.

Poupart Bakery

I think you are the only person I've ever heard say that Randol's is better than Prejean's. Randol's probably wouldn't be in my top 30 Lafayette restaurants.

Randols is a tourist trap and has the worst food of any successful restaurant I've ever had. I'd rather not eat than eat there.

Catahoulas in Lafayette has closed.

I guess those buses in Prejean's parking lot are locals who just don't want to drive there. Just about ALL Cajun/seafood restaurants in the Lafayette area entertain tourists. The last time I was at Randol's, however, we talked with quite a few of the folks dancing. In fact, probably 50% of them, at least. All were locals and upon hearing the accents of some of the others, I'd say they were locals as well.

Different strokes for different folks on liking the food. I don't know when you were last at Randol's, but it was very good when I was there some months ago. Shrimp app was excellent. Crawfish bisque and gumbos were oustanding. Dark roux, seafood flavor, just the right spice. Soft shell crab was perfectly fried and huge. Service was excellent as well. So, for me, the meal was way above average. Have been to Prejean's, not by choice, it wasn't even close. I can't even recall what I had. That's about how memorable it was, but this is my opinion and you all are entitled to yours, of course.

I can agree with that, but they're all >>> Randol's.

I'm not saying your opinion is wrong, it's just not shared by a lot of people in Lafayette.

Don's downtown is as good as Prejeans, maybe better, but the hut blows, stay away.

Logic would conclude that Lafayette dining is not very good.
