Sunday at the LSU baseball game in the first inning, a guy and his lady were walking up the steps in the aisle in the grandstand. The lady stops walking and starts texting on her cell phone. This is while the game is going on.

She was blocking my view of the pitcher and catcher. I missed one pitch so I looked up at her from my seat and said, "There's a game going on."

She looked down, obviously perturbed to be interrupted from her texting and said, "Are you talking to me? You can't be talking to me!"

I said, (maybe a little louder than I needed to) "Yes, ma'am, I am talking to you. We can't see with you standing there. Could you please move or sit down?"

She started getting sassy mouthed but before I could say anything else she took a couple of steps up the aisle and stopped again.

A man two rows up had heard what was said and said to her, "Now I'm talking to you. Move your arse out of the way!" She moved along. The guy she was with never said a word during the exchange.

What would you have done? Was I wrong to ask her to move so that I could see the game?

BTW, she was still texting as she went up the steps.

If you said it nicely then there is nothing wrong with it but it you were rude then you are just as bad as her.

There was nothing wrong with what you did and you were totally in the right and when she responded with that smartass comment you showed more restraint than I would have had but then again I have anger management issues...

What I would have done depends a lot on what she looked like.

Otherwise, you might have said something like...

"Hey, lady... would you mind doing a play by play of the game for those of us behind you who can't see a damn thing!"

He should have added, "If you go to get a coke, make it a diet!"

Totally justified in what you did. If I am moving while the game is going on, I squat to get out of the way of other people's view.

Where I sit, the issue is the kids who decide they need to stand at the fence. Hello, sit in your seat to watch the game. You will get the balls tossed at you by the players.

And hello, if there are just as many people you have to walk over to get to the aisle to go out and get concessions, can you walk to the side that is closer to the concession stand instead of constantly in front of me? Apparently, they don't like to walk in front of their own family.

I think both you and the 2nd guy were dead on perfect. Here's why:

(1) Just her typical womanish, princess, spoiled, the-world-has-to-stop-because-I'm-a-woman retort: "You CAN'T be talking to me" would have put me over the edge big-time...

I would have said a 10th of a second after that smart-arse reply; "And who the **** are YUUUUUUUUUUUU, the Virgin Mary ????????"

Also

(2) Just the fact that the guy the ***** was with didn't do or say ANYTHING or react AT ALL, proves that he knew she was wrong and the guys were right.

(3) There is 50 bazillion square feet of concourse/concession area in the Box for her to do her stupid texting.
Or, she could wait until she got to her SEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAATTTTTT to do that s**t.

What you did was correct and nothing compared to this Tulane fan from the YOGWF message board.

Check out this guy who pours his beer on an opposing fan and then profusely apologizes to keep from getting his arse kicked. Once the assault took place, a simple apology was not sufficient punishment. Check out his quote below and read most of the Tulane fans defending his actions in the above link. And Tulane fans claim LSU fans take it too far.

quote:

I want to apologize to the tulane fans (and our opponents) for my actions at the ball game this afternoon. For those who missed it, I took a disagreement with one of the opposing fans too far. I was very disgusted at the way they carried on (in general, way beyond what you would expect from most fans). Maybe it was the loss and thier over-exuberant celebration, maybe it was the beer or two I had. But it started out as a simple remark about how I did not appreciate their comments during the game. The guy immediately rallied with a few comments of his own, but forcefully, confrontationally. Something he said really struck a chord with me. I then proceded to stoop to such a low level and spill the remanents of my beer on the guy (about a 1/4 cup). That I am truly sorry for. In no way should I have done that. I never do that. I am not a confrontational person, but for some reason I was really disgusted with him (even more than I am with LSU fans).
