3. Kenner
4. The Northshore (Hammond to Slidell)

Why not Lake Charles since you included every other metropolitan are in LA?

I know its nothing special and doesn't rank in the upper part of the list, but c'mon? LC is definitely better than Monroe and Alexandria.

awesome.

restaurant only, or are you including the food culture of the city and backyard type cooking?

if it's just restaurants then Lafayette never overly impressed me. If you include the overall culture and home gathering/festival food then Lafayette improves drastically.

Both. It's how highly food is prized as a part of the city's culture.

agreed, def some great places, but nothing that's just over the top excellent (as you'd find in NO).

again, agreed. Lafayette (and surrounding area) festivals are great.

Interesting how BR is the chain restaurant town, and everyone forgets how there are a ton of chains in Lafayette- and they're rocking every night of the week.

Yeah it's not really Lafayette so much as it is all of Acadiana. I've had plenty of good eats in Abbeville, Rayne, Crowley, Eunice, etc. Not to mention all the cajun meat stores in area. I'd put our food up against anyone.

I agree on Shreveport being underrated too. I'd put them over Baton Rouge without thinking about it.

Whoa...I need to get some depos in Shreveport and further explore it.

You would be right to put Laffy's/Acadiana's food against anyone...its awesome. If Acadiana's foods festivals and boudin shops were in another state, it would get a lot more credit. As it is, NOLA simply overshadows it.

Please keep the board informed of some good laffy fests...I am always up for a roadtrip. I was thinking about BB for the crawfish fest soon.

Same for me, all I know is (and Fin possibly knows more) that it's gone downhill. The trashy element has taken over and it's pretty gross. That's what I hear by Laf relatives, so I cant personally vouch, but they all agree that's it's not the same.
