I'm not disrespecting your ability to hit a 3. I'm just trying to tell you our defensive style. We don't play a 2-3 zone , just a packed in man to man. Some teams really pressure outside the arc, Butler wont. I worry about your big inside, we are really one 1 deep. I really enjoy the Southern hospitality on this board. I really don't know who will win, I can't believe LSU is an 8 seed, and Butler is a nine, they both should have had higher seeds.

If Butler plays a sagged man defense like you say, we'll be raining 3's over that all game long. We have basically no inside game unless Chris Johnson gets a lucky bounce on an offensive rebound.

Well we have a bean pole who will score at least 2 points... so watch out for him.

Welcome to the board. Have fun. Don't take anything seriously.

i say LSU wins if Marcus and Bo can knock down their 3's. If not, we will see a lot of what we saw against Miss St and Butler will beat us.

I take nothing personally, it's all in fun, and none of us are playing or coaching, but we will all be referees from our coaches or cubicles

I don't believe that will work for y'all against us. Overall, 1-5, I think we have better players who will take advantage of that. Not every player is better, but we have enough. I don't know about y'all's depth. We aren't particularly deep. A couple can come in & contribute for us, but usually, depth is a weakness for us.

Sadly, I think your coach will adjust to this. I'd prefer if you had a dumber coach.

This seems to be standard strategy against us, maybe it's why we have the record we do. We have enough guys who can drop the outside shots that we usually draw the other team out, even when someone isn't hitting; that tends to free up the inside a little. If everyone is hitting, game over; if no one is hitting, game over in the bad way. Most of the time, it's a question for us who, and how many, will be hitting from the outside.

Why would the game be in the 50's???

We never score that low.

B/C there strength is on defense, and if they kep us in the 50's they win, this is actually the only thing I'm scared of, b/c sometimes when we face really good defenses we just rely on the outside shot too much and thats when we go on our infamous scoreless drought.

So my key stat, is that if we have any scoreless streak over 5 minutes we will lose, if we don't we will win. B/C w/ there defense it is hard to make up those 8 points you lose in that stretch kinda like the Xavier game, we just couldn't recover from the 8 point deficit

Good analysis...I think it is going to be a very tight, low scoring game. I have a feeling it will be very close, possibly notted up, going into the final 3 minutes.

You haven't read any of the threads after our last few losses by any chance?

defensive will really defend you inside the 3 point line. We will not come and chase your quickness, just contest every shot, and get back so you don't easy lay-ups.

This could definitely hurt y'all if you don't adjust. Marcus Thornton can catch on fire and has no problem throwing up 3 after 3. Bo Spencer can catch onto that too.

quote:

Howard is a 6'8" bruiser inside, you will think he can't play, but will end up with 18 and 10 if he doesnt get in foul trouble.

This could definitely cause problems for us. Tasmin Mitchell may match up well against him, but Chris Johnson cannot guard powerful guys down low.

Meh. Maybe. But it is a good sign for them.

Sometimes though, out of the friggin' blue, we make some shots.

God, I hate those. We're doomed when it happens.

I disagree. Sometimes, our defense keeps us in the game. And then, hopefully, we find the range.

If we get hot, and we're capable, we can make up 8 points. Sadly, sometimes, we don't get hot.

Sounds exactly like the type of team I'd be worried about if Brady were coach.

Butler will likely have trouble early against the atleticism of LSU. We did vs. Ohio State and Xavier, but came back well. It takes a little while usually for them to catch up to the speed of the Major Conferences. If this game is close early, it favors Butler. I wouldn't be surprised of an early 16-5 lead for LSU.

Butler's 3 point shooters are not as good as last years team. Much streakier now

Our defense will knock away and steal passes into the paint. Our help defense is really good, and don't be surprised 2-3 charges taken throughout the game.

My understanding is it's going to start at 0-0. You gotta be feeling good about that.

I don't disagree with you that we definitely should get above the 50's, but I just b/c we are more athletic that we will score, I believe that we are a lot more athletic than Xavier.

bosonsrule

I know that our defense is pretty good and keeps us in the game when we go on scoreless streaks, but I really believe w/ Butlers great defense that our offense may struggle to get points on every possession and thats how you dig yourself out of a hole.
And if we get HOT this game won't even be a game, b/c they don't have the offensive power to come back from a 15 point deficit.

Say what you will about the basketball team but please don't be ignorant. Butler is far from a no-name school
