I'm buying tickets but can't remember where the sun rises and sets at the Hoover Met. I've been a couple times, but don't recall what baseline is best in the afternoon when you take "shade" into account.

Anyone remember?

If I remember correctly, it seems like sitting on the first base line the sun was at our back in the late afternoon, but I'm not sure.

If anybody has any vids of last year's tournament, that would give a clue. I have vids, but they're all at home, either on my laptop or on VHS.

ETA: I think the sun sets on the 3B side. The last time I was there, we played a 10:00am game and people were bunched up under the press box on the 1B side to stay out of the sun.

Scroll down to the bottom and see an afternoon view. Looks like 3rd base is best for the afternoon.

I know early in the day for the 10am games the sun is always brutal on the 3rd base side. And I believe it gets bad on the 1st base side later in the day. I normally just get general admission so I can move around, but if you want reserved then get 1st base line tickets for early games and 3rd base line tickets for later games.

If you are buying reserved, you'll never be out of the sun. First few years we bought reseved until we wised up and bought GA books. You wind up sitting in GA anyway. Last year we bought GA for just LSU games the day of. That worked best.

Hotels are a much bigger issue than tickets.

I agree. Buy the general admission. Get to the game early so you can be to the east of the edge of the third base dugout. To the west of that line, the sun stays with you until about 6:30 PM. GA seating is pretty comfortable and with good vision. GA seating also lets you sit with the Tiger fans, which are by far the most fun to be around. They really have a good time.

Didn't have any problem last year. Stayed at the Riverchase, about 1 1/2 miles down the street from Regions Park. About 80 bucks per night.

major sun behind third base in the afternoon.

Sat low enough along the third base side with the sun behind me when I got to see this last May: LINK

me too, very cheap. I had an interesting stay at the SEC tourney. my friend and I went to publix before the game to buy posterboard and markers, Bama fan hooks us up with VIP tickets. We score a free meal, 3 beers, all you can eat ice cream. We left when the game started to sit behind LSU's dugout. Our signs end up on TV and we were in the advocate the next day. The best part: LSU won.
I was so pumped up after that trip, that another friend and I took off for Omaha and arrived Sunday afternoon in time for the game. We stayed up one night to paint a mini intimidator. Gate security statched it though, we were pissed because it was identical to the original billboard in right field. We also planned to sit in right field to make it legit, didn't work out so well.

Just sit in GA. The sun is brutal during the day games in the reserved sections.

Me and my dad went reserved the first year we went, and have done GA the last 3.
