No love for him in Gone in 60 seconds? Yeah, none from me either in that one.

I say Days of Thunder

Also, on the Santini bit, I just read this last night, sorry if German, but it gives good insight into where all that came from:

Too difficult to pick one. He is a GREAT american actor.

-Tom Hagan in Godfather I and II
-Col Kilgore in Apocolypse Now
-The Preacher in The Apostle might be his best work
-Gus in Lonesome Dove
-Max Mercy in The Natural

Mac in Tender Mercies. End of discussion.

Notice how several of these take place in Louisiana. The Apostle, Tender Mercies, etc...

And that's not even the best cameo in that movie!

Kevin McCarthy, star of the original 1956 version, is shown screaming "THEY'RE HERE!!" on the Golden Gate Bridge.

Greatest fricking cameo in film history.

I haven't seen the 70s remake yet, how does it compare to the original?

As good as the original is, Kaufman's remake is superior in every way. It's a classic sci-fi film and worth a watch.

Oh, well now I got to see it. Think I'll go add it to my queue right now.

I would have to go with EF, and also his Tender Mercy role.

What is that screen cap from?

Philip Kaufman's 1976 Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Duvall apparently loved the script but they had no parts left in it for him, so Kaufman put him in only one scene, a priest on a swing set that (you really can't spoil a movie where the title is the plot) you see when things just to start to get bad. He's creepy and weird and gives just the right expression for you to know something is up.
