Not saying they won't win any more games but it sure seems like they want this season to be over already.

There are a lot of comments to be made about the pitching letting us down over the weekend. Or the overall poor defensive play. And even dumb baserunning.

But I'm not sure I see the lack of effort or care that you think is there.

Can you provide some examples?

I mean they got big leads, lost them, and clawed back in 2/3 games this weekend. Then totally imploded in game 3.

Didn't exactly look like a team that was "checked out" to me. Looked like a team that can't get out of its own way.

Anyone seeing this is either a casual, or seeing what they want to see.

If Evans is down I do not see a way forward this season.

There just isn’t enough pitching or offense to make up for lack of pitching.

Agree.

I don't think any player or coach has checked out. The effort's there. Heck, we've got 3 - 5 guys playing their best ball now.

On the contrary, i saw more fight, hustle, and grinding at bats this weekend, then i saw most of the season

I don’t think they have checked out but I do think they are in their own heads in a big way. The number of errors and mistakes they make in the field are indicative of a team that has lost their confidence. Same goes for pitching. A losing streak builds pressure and some guys just don’t handle it well. It’s like a hitter being in a slump. You keep pressing and trying harder which usually makes things worse.

this! I think everyone is on pins and needles when they get the opportunity and they don't want to mess up - leading to MESSING UP!

Unfortunately, I think its the climate and culture that this season has created.

I don’t believe they have. CJJ is down a bunch of starters and he’s playing a lot of freshmen. They are gaining value experience. I haven’t seen any quit in them. Our bullpen has to step up and stop issuing free bases. If we can get that much done we will win. The freshmen can hit.

No….players at that level don’t check out after some losses. Fans sure do, though….

Jay has already said these big problems can’t be fixed this year.

This baseball team and season feels like the equivalent of the 2020 LSU football season. Everything goes to complete shite the year after a great national championship run.

The idea of a hangover year after winning a national championship is very real….i watched it happen to ole miss and ms state in recent years.

I think they're frustrated, and rightfully so. They've played hard, had leads, and can't seem to finish games. It's a mentally taxing way to move through the season, especially when you have some of your main guys unavailable.

I see alot of effort. It's a prideful group, understanding what it means to put on that LSU uniform. I think several also realize they're auditioning for a roster spot next season. Jay has not been shy about mentioning that the roster is poorly constructed, which likely means he plans on re-constructing. Maybe not the main thing, but effort is certainly something that Jay is assessing. Re-construction may not entirely mean processing guys but it's certainly part of the equation.
