Definitely up there on the list of one of the worst seasons to follow up a National Title.

In History of all College Sports.

I’m not sure I’ve seen anything quite like this in my 40 years of watching most sports.

Lots of “off” years to follow, but not many historically bad seasons to follow.

Poor Jay, couldn’t even have a half decent season in 26’ to keep the Coon Dogs at bay while we were still enjoying the thoughts of last season.

I think he thought he had it all figured out, and the baseball Gods said nahhh.

This is at least equivalent to 2020 LSU football, maybe worse.

Nah, that was significantly worse. LSU was getting its doors blown off and looked horrendous. The head coach couldn't have given less of a frick either.

You had players quitting before the season even started because they saw what Orgeron was about to do to the program.

no. This team, including Jay, don't give a frick either. They sometimes put up a bunch of runs but don't play defense for shite.

It's literally a carbon copy.

This brother right here is a borderline reality denier

How in the hell can you not compare this season to our 2020 football season?

We consider ourselves the best baseball program in the country and we field a team every week that looks like they've never played baseball in their life.

It's arguably worse than 2020 football considering expectations.
Nobody expected the 2020 football team to win shite of significance - even before a worldwide pandemic

This baseball team was #1 in the country at one point.

It’s far worse. We (minus the delusional pumpers) knew what was coming with football when Brady and Aranda left as well as O banging bleach blondes summer of 2020.

We expected better from JJ because he’s polished and won big at Arizona as well. That’s why this is so disheartening. It’s all but apparent we won in spite of JJ which makes this fall so surprising and worse.

Because this team has been right on the edge of winning several games they've lost. They've had a total of one non-competitive series. Rational fans know the program isn't lost.

The 2020 football team was embarrassed pretty much weak in and weak out. One of our best games only happened because our equipment manager noticed something none of the 40 coaches could notice.

The preseason #6 team in the country wasn't expected to win anything?

This is an easy tell with people like you. By all accounts, Jay is the hardest working coach in the country. He's pulling pitchers after one batter because he's so fed up with shitty performances. Jay spent his offseason (that lasted about 3 weeks) in the cape trying to recruit players after he won a title.

Orgeron spent his offseason on the beach and at casinos in Lake Charles. He didn't give a frick about what happened after he won his first title.

Jay, on the other hand, talked about how much he wanted to get his third. The two coaches, seasons, and programs are nothing alike at all.

I know people keep forgetting about the Covid factor but it did cause major issues for teams.

This isn’t quite the same scenario.

This is a blunder of epic proportions

The only team in the last 5 years to do well was Tennessee after winning in 24. They made it to the supers. They had a strong start. LSU got hot late in '24 and almost made it to the supers.

Miss St and OM never made it to NCAA tournament. This will be the norm until the NCAA fixes the calendar. Teams playing in Omaha are missing out on players in the portal.

This year, LSU is seeing what misses in the portal are. I think Jay understands what he did wrong and will fix it. It sucks but this is college baseball now. Team wins the NC and will have a rough year the following unless it is a young team and keep their core players.

Dude's won 2 NC's in 3 years making it highly unlikely that it was so fluky that LSU won in spite of him. We'll see how he responds next season
