Shooter carried Armscor Precision .38 semi automatic pistol and Maverick 12 gauge shotgun.

He came across the country, on a train, with the firearms packed in his bags.
Fwiw ... two low end firearms. He must have been on a budget.

At first I thought they were futzing up .380. However, it may have been 38 Super. Reporting about firearms is about as bad as it gets. Armscor (Rock Island) makes pistols in both calibers.
You're right, though, the number of crimes committed with 38 Super one could probably count on 1 hand. Ever.

I’m not aware of many semi autos chambered in .38. Usually revolver. Probably a .380. Of course the press knows nothing about firearms.
