In consultation with @SecWar, we will EXTEND the A-10 “Warthog” platform to 2030. This preserves combat power as the Defense Industrial Base works to increase combat aircraft production.

Thank you to @POTUS for your unwavering support of our warfighters and quick, decisive leadership as we equip our force. More to come.

Looks like they found a new role for it as a drone killer.

Good memories of the days way back in the 70's when they would fly out of EAFB in Ellick and practice runs over the old Camp Claiborne.

IMO, as long as there is conventional war, there is a place for the A-10.

We called in coordinates on a sniper in a 5 story building. One of these turned it into a pile of rocks in two passes.

The A-10 should never be retired before the BUFF. We have drones and all kinds of shite that can drop bombs. There's only one that does BRRRRRT. I do love the GoPro videos of people dying before they hear the sound of the GAU-8 posthumously.

The plane has about a million uses that just don't fit in with what our fighters are equipped to do.

The F-35 and especially the F-22 are the most advanced and lethal in the world, but you don't want either one engaging individual buildings, groups of people, small boats and ships, shore guns, hardened chokepoints, drones, or small vehicles at low altitude. They'd be practically useless at it.

Until we have developed and produced an attack aircraft capable of the same range and wide variety of low altitude missions that the warthog is the best in the world at - keep it going.

Oh, and one more thing - it has to be able to take hundreds of bullet holes and various parts of it being blown off while still retaining its flight and lethality

Sometimes you need a sniper rifle and sometimes you need a club. They both have their uses but when you need a club, you REALLY need a club. The A-10 is that club.

The A10 is really good at being a low speed low altitude infantry support weapon. As long as there are buildings and tanks and APCs the A10 will have a job.

As electronic weapons and counter measures get better and better, theres ironically more and more potential applications for a big arse gun with an archaic triple redundant hardened hydraulic flying tank to get it in range.

My grandparents had three huge chicken houses in Ashland. Like clockwork on Sunday afternoons, A-10s out of Barksdale would do practice gun runs on them. Fond memories of drinking sweet tea on the back porch watching that with my grandparents and whichever cousins were there

Definitely agree and the best part about the A-10 is that it is cost effective.

As many times that they wanted to get rid of the A10, they continually come back to the realization that it does it's job better than any other.

Definitely awesome. Always stopped whatever I was doing to watch them go by, when I was a kid in N. Evangeline parish.
