Do commentators lose credibility when they complain about the cost of raising children?

I just watched CNN and they were pretty unhappy about the cost of living. I googled their background, and half of them attended GWU which is $70k/yr. None of them attended public schools, and some even have eduction bills pushing $1mil.

Why are they so concerned?

Here's an idea. Rather than going heavily into debt and needing a high paying job to start paying it off, when there is no job guarantee, try learning a trade. People will always need workers who are good with their hands: plumbers, electricians, mechanics. That's a good living.

Why do you care what they say? Your normal average income American can't afford shite. That is the only thing that matters.

Until women oversaturated the market with labor supply, families could afford to live on one income. Now they all bitch they have to work to be able to afford child care. Oh how the turntables have turned.

OP is pointing out them complaining about high costs of raising children, when they paid exuberant costs for higher education.

People underestimate how much money can be saved when one spouse stays home, watches the kids, cooks etc...

These 2 income families paying $30k a year in childcare, spending $20k on takeout, 2nd car and commute etc...

Demands a pretty high salary for both just to break even considering the tax rate.

Salary in pretax spend in post tax.

How does he know that they paid that? Maybe their parents paid. Maybe they had a scholarship. It also seems as if he’s looking at current tuitions, which surely have increased since these commentators went to school.

Regardless, I don’t think it affects the significant costs to raise children these days.

Stop buying air chilled chicken, plant based milks, and every sliding glove for Braxxxtyn.

It took me too long to realize this. At 40, I went to trade school to get "certified" in what I had already been doing for 20 years. It took some time after getting my diploma, but the company finally recognized what I had done and offered me some monetary appreciation for it.

If I'd have gone to trade school at 17 when I graduated HS, I'd have been making at 25 what I'm making now.

I told my kids to either go to work and bust their butts to earn it, or go to a trade school or small college for a fast-track degree in something useful. They all listened and are all doing better than I was at their respective adult ages.

Nobody I knew had the experience to tell me being an electrician ($4k to get journeyman, for the entire course, vs 4k for ONE MBA class) wasn't about being in an attic for the rest of your life, it was about learning enough to have other people in your trucks to be in attics. I'd have been making twice as much.

Find someone selling their business, get an SBA loan, don't be an a-hole, and profit.
