I love 1. It is on the yearly Christmas movie rotation for the family.
I've seen 2 once...way back when it first came out. To be honest, I don't remember a whole lot about it. I'll have to take another look, but at the end of the day, I'm sure I'll be still favoring 1.

I greatly prefer Gremlins 1 even if I appreciate a lot from 2

1 has actual scary and intense parts, it's primarily a creature feature but with lots of clever humor mixed in, to the point it could also be considered a comedy. Unique blend.
2 makes zero attempts at being scary, it's an absurdist romp. It works too, they were never gonna recreate the vibe of the first so they leaned into the wackiness

You definitely will. I watched 2 a few weeks ago and even though I remember it being bad, it was worse than I remembered.
But like I said, it really is so absurdly bad that it’s fun and hilarious at times. It’s definitely an enjoyable bad movie.

2 is a way ahead of its time meta commentary that parodies the corporate bullshite that birthed it
Much like Halloween 1 and 3, I love them both for what they are and because they are entirely different

1 for me, for nostalgia reasons. It was the first movie my best bud (still to this day) & I were dropped off at the mall & got to hang out & watch a movie. After our ticket was bought we were given $20 a piece. A lot of money for 9-10 y/o kids back then. We bought a ticket for Karate kid & saw it next.
