Well... the purpose of the press is to inform the public in order to hold the government accountable.
I'm just having a really hard time with the fact that TMmfZ is apparently going to be the only outlet to fulfill the original intent of "the press".

Younger posters will have to jump in here for me. Is TMZ taken seriously enough by the public to pull this off? I’ve always thought that they were just an entertainment gossip rag that occasionally had some serious content.

I think their power comes from their minions who do the public reporting. They have a huge following. They did something similar going after all the congressmen trying to enjoy their Easter vacation while the govt remained shut down. I’m all for it if it’s sincere like you said. And not biased
