People keep telling me that all of Trump’s actions are meant to contain China but it looks like he can’t wait to hobnob with Xi.

My opinion is that China will make all the promises in the world but have no shame in going back on a promise. Xi will uphold his end of the agreement until it suits him not to.
Xi and Trump both have intentions of protecting their economy and people but the way they want to go about it are 180 degrees opposite and often require opposing ideas. I think there is a mutual respect between Trump and Xi in that both are going to do what they're going to do and work with each other when they feel it is mutually beneficial or even when one party feels they get the better end of the stick.

You're mind is already made up, and your credibility here is destroyed because if Trump verbally assaults Xi, it's OMB. If Trump tries to diplomatically navigate an issue, he's "hobnobbing" Xi.
Seems Trump acknowledges that China is not friend, but they can make life a lot more difficult for the situation if it so chooses.

What did we gain with this stupid move? Sure bomb Iran kill a bunch of people (kids) and we get regime that is emboldened and believes they stood up to us the great satan. The long term goal on how to control china is to turn them from an enemy to a friend willing to do what we ask or what is best for Americans. It is easier to have peace with allies than enemies.
