Did you watch those movies when you were young? How much do you believe was real?
I see that they’re making a new one. Sounds like it will all be fake.

Saw the first one in early high school at my friend Justin Lai's house

The fake parts were clearly fake the first time I watched it, and I ruined it for him pointing it out.

The "main" parts of the original were all fake.

As for the real stuff, it's not taboo anymore with Twitter. Hell people getting killed are posted on here somewhat regularly, even.

I saw one once when I was a kid. My cousin got a bootleg VHS copy. We thought we were cool shite getting our hands on that.

My neighbor who was obsessed with horror when we were kids would watch them

I watched a few scenes once and was completely appalled. I didn't want to see that shite and left

I can't be on Instagram for more than 30 seconds or I'll end up seeing an Indian guy getting electrocuted or run over by a train. IDK why my algorithm thinks I want to see that

only scenes I remember were a bear killing someone at Yellowstone. A guy jump from a building in NYC with the onlookers encouraging him to jump and a guy shot at a podium. Were they known to fake stuff?

Same but

I'm an electrical contractor and usually use things like #electricalsafety or #electricalhazard on my posts about different things I come across. Its usually fire hazards but IG's like "this guy wants to see people die"
I've also been a FF/EMT for 25 years, so it doesn't really bother me.

I remember one story about a rattlesnake bed with like 10 rattlesnakes in the cabinet under the sink in a woman's kitchen.

That freaked me out more than anything else on those videos...

Right? I recently joined Twitter and the first thing that showed up was an Illinois sausage fest with dudes waving dildos. I didn't even follow any accounts yet, but it decided I'd want more of this.

my Instagram algorithm is ironic or inappropriate memes i send to my wife and sports humor i send to my 20 year old.

Unless it's a NYP or major news thing (the dude that fell off the boat and probably got eaten by a shark) I have never seen a dead person on Instagram.

That sounds like the R. Budd Dwyer suicide. That was 100% real.

I probably won't go see it, but the reboot at least has an interesting premise. A serial killer is murdering people based on the deaths in the original films. It's kind of a meta-reboot in that it acknowledges the existence of the original movies.

We watched all of them, I'm sure. There was a Traces of Death you could rent too.

I remember a boat prop hitting someone.

The fake monkey brain restaurant table.

The Bud Dwyer shooting.

An ambulance was flying through streets, hits someone, stops, and throws them in the back and it takes off again.

Some weird tribe yanking on some dude's dick and cuts it off.

A guy had a screwdriver to a hostage's neck.

No clue which Faces of Death it was though.

I've worked one of these. Caught the guy down the chest and upper abdomen. Accident and obviously DOA. I'm not sure even Tarantino could make a scene as gory as that was IRL.

Back in the day working at a video store, people who rented faces of death, the early UFC videos, and GGW all had the same expression/presentation.

Kind of a hurry up and let me pay and get out of here before people see what I’m renting look.

I remember the house I was at when a sophomore in high school in 1995 watching these. Loved it.

The Dwyer stuff was real, but the guy getting shot at the podium was some "political assassination". It looked fake.

The motorcycle jump gone wrong in Part II was real. Bob Pleso.

Junior high-ish in the 80's. It was not easy to find until the video store dared to stock it.

I thought it was all real because I was about 12 and the internet was not around to tell me otherwise. It wasn't until the 90's that I found out a lot of it was fake, including most of the sequel material.

I remember arguing in the heat of the moment that these sorts of videos wouldn't have cuts and edits like that. That was my main argument.
