Heard but have not been able to make it in. Gas station on Drusilla and Old Hammond corner supposedly has a big whiskey selection.

Anyone been in and seems odd a new gas station would focus on whiskey and not cheaper booze.

They have a really good selection and great prices for the everyday stuff. They have some harder to get stuff behind the counter but I think it's higher priced

Maybe they are trying to attract a higher end clientele than the regular Swisher Sweet and Courvoisier crowd.

Would you try to appeal to the lowest common denominator gas station customer or hope to attract one that won't shop lift or fuel up and drive off?

A better question is how do all these gas stations, including newly opened ones, pull allocated bottles that large grocery stores and some liquor stores that have been around forever can’t?

Brother, I hate to break it to you, but they just don't like you enough. Keep it for their buddies or the big spenders. Trust me, Rouses gets WAY more allocations than what they put in those basket drops.

I honestly stopped there not long ago just to get gas. Went in and it's fantastic. The whole side wall is lined with nice wood shelving and a great whiskey selection. A friend of mine went (who is much more bougie than me) and said it wasn't high end enough for her taste, but I found some good options. I'll be interested to see how long they can keep it clean/nice...

I can’t speak for Rouses, Donny used to keep 100% of his allocations at his house, before the basket thing. That said, I can tell you, I’ve likely been in more back rooms over the years than most on here. Especially with the Total Wine factor, few long standing stores get nearly what they used to, especially Sazerac products. And that’s not liquor managers telling me that, it’s store owners.
