People are Assholes: Rainy Interstate Edition

Driving on I-20 between Shreveport and DFW. Raining, in the left lane, in the middle of a train of cars and 18 wheelers, with probably 6 more cars behind me. The right lane is clear because everyone can see that lane is clogged and slower. I'm following a relatively safe distance of three/four car lengths behind another SUV, at 82 mph and coming up on an 18 wheeler to my right, in the rain. You know what the spray and visibility are like in those conditions. It's kind of tense.
Suddenly, out of nowhere a large Dodge Ram white truck zoomed past the line of cars behind me on the right going much faster than everyone and slipped in front of me. Motherfricker! He came within an inch of clipping me and had he not slipped in, a split second later he'd have rammed into the semi or sideswiped us. The driver had fricking balls of steel to pull off that move, but was a whisker away from causing a massive accident. I woke up twice this morning dreaming about it. It was the closest I've come in a long while to an accident. When he came over, fortunately everyone behind me anticipated it and had braked. My wife was very upset and I had to pull off at the next intersection and take a break from the ride.
I hate I-20. There is too much traffic on it and needs to be made into three lanes on each side from DFW all the way to Longview. It generally thins out about there when headed to Shreveport and that's generally where traffic starts building up when headed to DFW. Throw in rain and that's just a very dangerous highway.

Quit driving 82 in the pouring rain

Yet when the accident happens, we’ll only hear “how can an 18 wheeler not drive straight down this straight interstate?”

If you leave that kind of gap, people are gonna take it.

It's always the white trucks. They're the equivalent of Nissan Altimas.

You sound like an awesome driver...
Side note: Frick I-20, way too many 18 wheelers...

Could've stopped there. Rain, snow, beautiful day... people are assholes regardless of weather conditions.

So it’s pouring raining and your going 82?
I don’t believe that.
And if you were going that fast then it wasn’t raining bad enough to “clog” the right lane, whatever the hell that means.
You’re just another idiot cruising in the left lane sounds like.

3-4 car lengths is nothing going 80+, particularly in rain.
I notice when assholes are coming up fast in the right lane trying to pull this shite and I just coast and let them in because its not worth dying over

Like the dumbasses they will circle a parking lot for 5 minutes to get a spot that saves them a 5 second walk
