Draft related - Any chance the JETS go QB at 2

Saw some mocks yesterday and read a couple articles that the Jets may be interested in going with Ty Simpson for the 2 pick. Would be a dream scenario imo and I could see it considering their qb situation is awful. That would really help our odds of landing our guy (whoever that may be ). Do any of you think the Jets may be looking qb for 2 overall ?

no. Simpson kinda sucks and he'll still be there when they pick at 16.

Kinda what I’m thinking. Wishful thinking I guess

Does anyone need a QB enough between 2 and 15 to spend that high a pick on Simpson? I guess it’s possible but if I were the Jets, I’d sit tight and wait for their second pick, assuming they really like him in the first place.

We really need to hope at least 2 OL go before us.

Cardinals at 3, Browns at 6, and maybe Dolphins at 11 could use a qb but doubt any will look at him that high. I think Jets at 16, Browns at 24, and Dolphins at 30 could be realistic. The Steelers probably should be but they seem intent on not trying to get a qb. The Rams trading into the late 1st would be the wildcard.

not this year
too many impact players on the board for Jets to select a QB in this spot
you can get a similar QB in round 2/3 unless they would trade down
they will likely suck again, so they probably are looking at a QB in the 27 draft with a much deeper pool to select from

No.
Jets are going with Reese or Bailey. Consensus is that it will be Reese so Davis can mentor him to take over for him when he retires.

Every draft some team picks a qb higher than anyone thought. Sometimes a team who doesn't even need a qb does it. I can totally see someone buying high on Simpson. Richardson was drafted at what #2 by the colts and that dude was trash in college.

Maybe Pittsburgh or the Jets will trade up to 8

I would not have thought that Anthony Richardson or JJ McCarthy would be top 10 picks in the last few years, yet here we are. Teams that need QBs are typically stupid when it comes draft time.

Richardson has elite physical tools and people tricked themselves into calling McCarthy a winner because Michigan won. Can't say either of those for Simpson and he has Richardson's drawback of limited experience except he's not even young like Richardson was.

No shot in hell they take him at 2. They’d just wait to 16

This is what I’m clinging to a little bit bc you see hundreds of mocks leading up to and there’s always a couple WTF picks that no one expects and sometimes they’re early as hell. They def have a jagoff qb room and if they really like Simpson they may not wanna chance the wait. I doubt he’s the pick but I’m not ruling anything out. Would audibly cheer if the jets went qb at 2 . Man I’m so ready for this draft. Since SP left I think we’ve gotten away from the cutesy reach picks and thinking we see some obscure talent that no one else does.

Zero chance at two QBs going in the top 20
Posted on 4/10/26 at 8:00 pm to saintsfan22
The ‘27 QB class is supposed to be stacked. Some of the teams that need one will likely find a stopgap option, be average to bad in ‘26, and hope to get a guy in next year’s draft.
