I still think it’s definitely low but is surprisingly doesn’t look as bad as I though it would.

I know it’s where it crosses the batter, but the catcher’s glove is on the ground right behind the plate receiving it.

Crossing your front shin and back ankle isn’t the flex you think this is.

It was the delay in calling strike that pissed CJJ off.

Not as bad, yes.
It’s still down at his shins. That’s a ball every day and twice on sundays.

I mean the bottom of the strike zone is defined and the bottom of the kneecap, and that’s basically where it is at his front leg. Obviously this all depends on where the plate is, I’m just saying it was expecting worse

The pitch was simply not that close. Especially on a strike three call

Damn mitt is on the ground! And it's lower than I thought it was initially! Ump screwed up big time! Can't blame JJ for being pissed!!

Umpiring is extremely hard. You can't hesitate on the call though, right or wrong.

The guys might not like this but I did a screen record of that video you just posted so I could slow it down. It looks at his knees to me. For sure the front knee and hard to tell bc of the white pants, but possibly the back knee as well. Agreed it looks a lot closer than I was thinking originally.
ETA: upon further review I noticed his back knee dips on his load so the baseball is clearly low at that point. Still looks close on the front knee but without knowing exactly where he was lined up with the plate it’s hard to know.

The catcher didn’t even try to frame it. That’s all you need to know there.

Looked like a strike there. I believe the ump called the two before that strikes and they were in the same spot.
I agree that the delay is what sent Johnson to the plate.

I think Jay was also annoyed at the length of time it took to make the call.

Was the ball below his knee when it crossed the plate? I think below, but it’s close.

It was the delay in calling strike that pissed CJJ off.
And also the last straw from other bad calls earlier in the game that always seemed to favor Tennessee.

After watching the replay several times, and this angle in particular, it was a borderline call at worst by the ump. Ball crossed Cade's bottom of front kneecap. I realize Jay may have been protesting the whole at-bat tho. Whatever fires up the team!

His front foot is almost out of the batters box he is so far up. So that isnt where it crossed the plate.
