I applaud this move…pooling money to pay college athletes who aren’t even known to the company putting up the monies if fraudulent…across all college sports nationally.

I mean ok.
I don't know why this is what his cabinet is focused on but this hurts us directly more than helps us but cool.

NIL has hurt LSUs biggest advantage which is the instate pride and talent wanting to stay home. Now that players are mercenaries chasing a bag staying home isn’t as attractive as before. It levels the playing field luring kids that would otherwise never consider playing elsewhere

To be fair, for the last 25 years, major universities have been going into debt trying to build up their athletic programs to increase their national exposure. That draws in the better students which improves their ability to gain those grants spoken of in this EO. This is a necessary evil as all states have been “de-funding” their State universities for about 3 decades now. It’s why tuition is so high now.
If you read the EO itself, it calls for Congress to act in some way. Personally, I believe it’s just another stepping stone to make the athletes of the main money generating sports employees of the University. It’s the only way to bring order. That would put the power back with the schools while rewarding the money generating athletes with money themselves.

Way to tell us you don’t understand politics. Also, the current model in college athletics needs sweeping changes. The pay for play model isn’t sustainable for 90% of schools and that’s a problem.

This won’t hold. It’s unconstitutional. Just an attempt to gain cheap points with sports fans who are uninformed.
This is basically an employer vs labor issue. You can’t force someone to work under conditions that you unilaterally create. Especially when it is restricting movement and salaries.
The solution is and has always been to make college athletes employees under contract. What is allowed in contracts is collectively bargained. Fair for both sides.

LSU got every kid they wanted last year except Blaine Bradford in state so who are you referring to?

You think the use of executive orders to dictate college athletics rules is a good thing?
Will you feel the same when another administration does this or even interprets parts of this to push transgender participation or some other whacked-out agenda in college athletics?
I wonder how those baws who want to defund Women's Basketball feel about the verbiage about women's athletics?
Here is a link to the EO, which only really dictates that schools will lose funding if they don't do these things.

The potential unintended consequences of more government overreach is not what I'm looking forward to.

This has about as much chance of being enforced as it would if I gave the order.

Forget Trump. Sticking his nose into stuff that’s not his job or his business. He’s got way more important shite to do.
