If you acted up your family would send you to military school. My grandparents put a boot up my father’s arse and he ended up at Castle Heights.
I’m curious if anyone can relate.

The discussion is easy.

In 1950s less than one out of every 10 kids lived in a single parent household.

Currently is about 1 in 3.

If the kid is black it’s 2 out of every 3.

Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, TX, and New Mexico Military Institute are still in existence. Knew a few guys who went to one or the other in the 90's.

In the '80s, the threat changed from military school to LTI.

I've passed by LTI in Monroe. It looks grim now. I can only imagine what it was like then. It has a cool looking art deco front gate though.

Product of the 50hs...Had classmates that ended up in military schools and Castle Heights being one. The sumbitches would come home during holidays etc wearing their uniforms and steal all our girls..

Grew up down there. We played MMA in basketball a couple times. They had these two 6-10 west african fellas both named Adama Ndiaye.

Up until 2003, St Paul’s in Covington had boarding for Jr High & High School boys as well as did Stanislaus.

The prevailing narrative was if your boy was a smart arse, he went to St Paul’s, if he was a dumbass, Stanislaus.

Not 100% true but stereotypes exist for a reason…

I remember this. Hearing about kids that got expelled from Mandeville/Covington high had to go to St. Stanislaus.

I think kids started to say they came from St. Stanislaus just to act tough.

Had the tour one summer at Marion Military Institute. (MMI)

I had several friends whose fathers attended due to bad behavior and heard nightmare stories from them.

I backed WAY off the throttle after that campus tour. No thank you.
