Hangover from upcoming midterm shellacking will be awful

I think Dems will end up with 52-53 Senate seats and a 30-40 seat House majority. Even if the GOP wins the presidency in 2028, it will likely be with a Democratic Senate until at least 2030.
Between blowback from the Iran war (Trump's doing, could have been avoided) and the AI job loss (which would affect any party in power), it's gonna get ugly.

Was the stupidest move and timing he could have chosen.
The increase in gas prices and subsequent inflation take away from the massive refund checks the BBB was intended to do. Take that, with interest rates just went up 4/10 in the last week and the affordability crisis that was mythically biting him in the arse, just became real.
The longer the Iran bullshite drags out, now 2 more weeks of bombing according to him, the less time the economy has to course correct and people have to forget before November.

You’re not factoring in Democratic idiotic, unAmerican policies.

Anecdotally, all my friends (I'm in my 20s) voted for Trump in 2024, and were big into his personality cult.
Myself included,
I'd say around 80% are pissed off. Didn't vote in primaries, and will unlikely vote in the general election for a single republican.
We all feel betrayed, and no amount of "Herp Derp Trump has always wanted to bomb Iran" BS is gonna make us any less pissed.
We are pissed about his devotion to AI, to Data Centers, to H1B and O-1 visas. Not helping with anything he said he would help with for young people, like buying homes etc.
Frick Trump. He's been disloyal to US.

Last April the dow was at like 37k after tariffs only to rise to 48,49k in the fall.
7 months is a long time and Americans have short term memory especially if Iran war turns out successful

It doesn’t matter if they’re democrats or republicans as long as they do what’s best for the American people, which is supporting Israel

Amen brother
As long as the inflation meter goes up everything is good

THIS. The midterms will all depend on what happens over the summer. If Venezuelan oil output keeps increasing at the rate it currently is increasing at, and Hormuz opens up by May, oil is going to plummet and profit margins are going to skyrocket. People will forget all about late Feb-April by the time we get to Oct if that happens.

Have you considered that there's a third option?

At this point, America would almost deserve this fate

Uh? Have you looked at a map of the districts?
Right now, with the new texas districts, there's probably less than 20 competitive races. The country is highly gerrymandered already. This may change if Cali and Virginia seek more dem seats. We also don't have the results of the voting rights districts that could greatly favor southern Republicans if the supreme court rules race can't be taken into district composition
I'd like to hear your explanation on the Senate going to 52-54 Dems.
The senate only has Maine and NC as flips/tossups.
Texas and Ohio is a reach for Dems.
What solid Rep senators are going to lose in your opinion?

I can’t wait for the revisionist history on the Trump admin. It’ll be worse than GWB.

The midterms were gonna be bad before the whole Iran thing. But now? We're toast. He made such a dumb choice.
MAGA will not take accountability... They will blame others first and foremost.
