Anyone see yet?

Was fun. They play it safe but feels shorter than the run time.

Glenn Powell as Star Fox, everyone cheered. He embodied it well. A lot of Easter eggs. Curious to see if they jump straight into Smash or expand the world more.

ETA: Luigi didn't get enough screen time and thought Charlie Day killed it. Looking forward to Luigi's Mansion eventually.

How much fan service compared to the first one?

Whole family enjoyed it. They did play it safe but executed well. Lots of good fan service moments.

Did feel a bit shallower than the first movie, which was not all that deep either. I saw a review call it hollow and I think that’s fair. Entertaining. I think it will lack a bit of the rewatch appeal of the first one.

they made sure Star Fox did a barrel roll in the Arwing and Mr Game and Watch makes an appearance but seriously, on a scale of 1-10, maybe 9, there are 40+ of them at least

The biggest deviation from the game is Rosalina and Peach are revealed to be sisters.

Reviews are horrible for every movie nowadays. Just gonna have to go see for yourself and make your own judgement. What many people don’t like you may love.

I haven’t seen it but movie reviewers are really showing their true colors on this one. It’s not about being entertaining, it’s gotta push the agenda. This guy gave Mario a 0 and Emilia Perez a 10.

Nintendo will always play it safe

They value their IP

Unlike some companies who will destroy their IP in the name of wokeness

Translation:
The same critic who gave a zero to the Super Mario Galaxy movie gave a 10 to the trans musical of Emilia Perez, one of the worst movies in history.

The press isn't hated enough.

I’d consider that to be a pretty good review on its own, especially if coupled with a decent audience score.

Yeah it was a lot of fan service and pretty shallow story but overall enjoyable
The visuals were good and it actually worked in 3D, which I don't say about many movies

we just got out. it was fine. it just didnt have the charm of the first imo. agree with yall that it was shallow at parts with a ton of fan service, but i mean, it's not supposed to be the godfather haha. nintendo did nintendo things and gave us something solid to keep the people coming back

It definitely wasn’t anywhere near as good as the first one. It’s not bad, just not that good. Rather boring and felt like it was made for kids under 12. Our theater was packed and i don’t recall a single moment where the crowd laughed loud enough to hear it.

My 11 year old loved it. My 14 year old though it was "ok".

I think they rushed this one. They wanted to make sure it came out close to the other one, but they would have gotten just as much hype if they announced it and waiting until 2027 to drop it with more story. Yoshi could have been taken out of the movie and it not really change a thing. Luigi wasn't used very well. It didn't take much to get bowser Jr to convince Bowser to return to evil.

I think an extra 15 minutes of thought out storyline would have help it but not make it too long.

HOWEVER... easter eggs for the adults and random senseless entertainment for the kiddos is what they were going for and it worked enough to make a decent penny on this one and continuing the world.

I'm hoping the.rumors are true about Luigi's Mansion, and hope they do a DK movie as well.

I think this is my exact thoughts. I brought my niece and she seemed ready for it to be over, and she absolutely loves the first one.

I thought it looked really cool, but I'd rather the Kongs than Bowser Jr. He was pretty aggravating to me.

And why didn't Rosalina ever go visit Peach if she knew where she sent her and reading bedtime stories about her?

I think the first is a solid 8/10. This one maybe 5 or 6. Felt long at times and Holy shite was there alot going on .

Felt like a Peach and Rosalina movie and not a Mario movie. My son is almost 3 and had the time of his life tho. First movie at the theater for him so W all around.

Yeah the sisters and magical powers parts felt like a Frozen knockoff and will be plenty of Halloween costumes this year

Universal saw an opportunity to take the princess crown from Disney and are going for it … Daisey in the end credit scene too.

Movie was good, but like you said it just had too much going on and isn’t near as complete as the first movie

This movie will move a lot of merchandise

Just watched it today and was the first movie I've seen in theater since Top Gun: Maverick and it was decent.

Really? That's surprising to me. My whole family thought the movie was great.

My kids had an absolute ball as did the packed theater of kids. It’s was an awesome shared experience for them.

These retarded critics don’t understand that a video game that is likely in the top 3-5 most beloved IPs in the world for its fun and simplicity for kids should just be largely fun and simple. It doesn’t need to be inside out or overly deep.

The movie was vibrant and fast like the game come to life and the audience ate it up (again).

I actually liked this one more as I loved the callbacks a bit more, my favorite being the SMB 2 casino lol and the axes/bridges/lava.
