Federal judge rules Trump order ending NPR and PBS funding was unconstitutional

A federal judge on Tuesday ruled that a key part of President Trump’s executive order targeting NPR and PBS was unconstitutional, blocking the administration from denying federal funds based on editorial viewpoint.
The ruling will not reverse the Trump-led campaign to strip NPR and PBS stations of federal funding. Last summer, Republicans in Congress rescinded federal support over objections from public media advocates.
Nevertheless, the ruling is a First Amendment victory. “Today’s ruling is a decisive affirmation of the rights of a free and independent press — and a win for NPR, our network of stations, and our tens of millions of listeners nationwide,” NPR CEO Katherine Maher said in a statement.

That's how you do this sort of thing properly.

Congress already yanked their funding, so this accomplishes nothing.

I don't understand how federal funding facilitates an independent press
I also don't understand how federal funding supports a Non Government Organization
If they are paying you, you work for them

Exactly. The Judge is a clown.

How is it unconstitutional to defund something that isn't specifically required by the constitution?
Sounds to me like he just needs to state a different reason for defunding. Maybe "because I don't like them". I think that would suffice.

If they want NPR funded then ask Newscum to fund it with all the fraud in his state.

There's nothing "independent" about the clique of leftists running NPR and PBS. It's just a leftist propaganda machine devoid opposing voices or real debate. There was no free flow of information, only propaganda.

I wasn’t aware that PBS and the NPR were even in the Constitution.

According to Democrats federal judges, everything is constitutionally protected and the president has no say in anything

I think the issue was denying them money that had already been approved by Congress (the people with the purse).
A non issue now since Congress stepped up.

quote:no it is not - it is horseshite requiring me to pay for propaganda- this will likely be overturned - frick any judge that says tax dollars to support a failing business are required constitutionally
Nevertheless, the ruling is a First Amendment victory.
