Spain closes its airspace to US Military

Might be late to this but saw several headlines about this. It looked like B-1s from RAF Fairford were already going around before these stories dropped. This just reminds me of what my Spanish teacher in high school said about Spain’s response to the March 11th train bombings in 2004. The impression I got was the bombings made them pull out of the Iraq War. I get that forever wars aren’t the answer but it had been less than a year at that point and the description that he gave of that response to an attack on a nation’s home soil just felt like surrendering to me.

At this point, Spain may have a higher percentage of Muslims than Iran.

Well, they just gave citizenship to 1.6 million muslims so they surrendered a while ago.

Fransisco Franco.... dictator of Spain until 1975.
I don't think i'm looking to Spain for answer to much of anything.

It’s time
It’s time to pull out of NATO entirely and leave the Europeans to fend for themselves. How many trillions of American tax payer dollars have been spent rescuing, and defending Europe for the past 100 years, and this how they pay us back in return?
DONE
With all of them quite frankly.

Reminds me when the US bomb Gaddafi in 1986 in response to the West Berlin disco bombing. France, Spain & Italy refused to let us overfly their airspace, so our bombers had to go around Gibraltar, adding several hours to the mission. We accidentally bombed the French embassy in Tripoli in the bombing mission.. As one comedian quipped afterwards "Well, if our pilots had a little bit more sleep, maybe they could have been more accurate"

I've been to Spain a few times ... early 80s - 2019.
I've never given much credence to the Spainish. I never respected them as a civilization. Their gene pool was tainted a millennium and a half ago. They've been more muslim than European for longer than most recognize.
Any so-called civilization that relishes the bloody savagery and cruelty of so-called bull "fighting" is a worthless third world civilization based upon my observations.

That's not just the impression you got; it's the truth.
Terrorists made them quit, literally. Instead of responding to an attack on their soil that resulted in ~200 deaths by putting foot to arse, they decided to surrender in the hopes they wouldn't be targeted again.

This feels so much like the early 2000’s when neocons were bashing France after de Villepin argued against OIF in favor of continued weapons inspections.
I think I might have freedom fries tonight.

It's beyond time to let the Europeans take over the Ukraine quagmire that they keep wanting to dictate anyway. Then we focus on what we have going on. And it gives them something to actually focus on besides the free ride of US protection.
