Guy that covers HBCU sports saying JJ is gonna be on staff. JJ was at Tx Southern since LSU.

I don’t really mind it. He wasn’t a bad recruiter. The idea that the staff would have 2 coaches on the staff that were fired as head coaches of the same institution is wild

Johnny doesn't seem like the power struggle type so I don't think that would be a concern but I would love to hear Wade's response when someone brought up that idea.

Recruiting has very little value in basketball anymore, and he is a fricking atrocious X and O coach. He’s as bad as they come in that regard and just brings very little value to a P5 staff in 2026.

Johnny probably does want to come home. Wade just hired a staff at NC St and Johnny wasn't on it so there's that. Its not like he needs a local guy to give him the lay of the land at LSU.

It’s not like he’s a threat on the sideline but im just not sure what he contributes. Maybe he’s built huge inroads in the Texas AAU circuit but feels like a stretch.
Surely the first time in college basketball history this would happen.
I would imagine Wade has autonomy tbh, so maybe he wants Johnny on board. Good recruiter for sure.

It’s not like Johnny is a threat to take Will’s job. Johnny is all LSU and so is Wade. It could work out ok.

Johnny still has deep ties within LA, and probably some in Houston. If you want to build and NIL generating machine at LSU, there are worse people than Jones.
