Rumors the past week have been floating around that a deal has been made for a location somewhere around the Satsuma area. Has anyone heard any firm news?

I heard that 3-4 years ago. At that time, I spoke with a local politician that said the man who owns all the property at the Satsuma exit was talking to them and trying to get them to come.

I haven’t heard that recently.

I think that wouldnt be a bad spot, usually Buc-ees are placed on outskirts of metro areas or between them. Theyll have between Lafayette and BR, and then if so here, between BR and Hammond

Would make zero sense if they move forward with Lafayette location.

Well each buc-ees (Lafayette/Pass Christian) if they made one in Satsuma would be an hour or so apart

The Ruston and Lafayette locations will be in 2027.

That's the same spot they're building Disney World, so no.

A guy I know works for the same commercial real estate firm that handles their tenant representation. Apparently Lafayette was the only city in the area that was willing to get the ball rolling. Every other city would either pussyfoot around or couldn't provide a tract with decent infrastructure or were unwilling to.

No it’s not. Driving from Baytown, TX to Giddings, TX you will pass 4
Buc-ees in a two hour drive. One in Baytown, one in Cypress, one in Waller and one in Giddings. The ones in Cypress and Giddings are the smaller type stores.

Louisiana could use way more than two on I-10.

I don't believe this. Cities do not provide tracts to business to develop. Businesses find tracts to develop. On occasion, government officials will try to solicit businesses to come in but usually with policies.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that…

It's definitely a thing whether you believe it or not. Most companies look for things like sewer lines and utility hookups. They invest the money on the site but they're not going to spend the additional millions of dollars it would take to extend lines to that property.

Its a big reason why Louisiana in general has developed a lot slower than other states. There's a lot less sites that are ready to break ground from the jump.

I hope they enjoy the smell of a hot landfill in the summer. Woodside is right there and that area smells like hot garbage,
