I was more than surprised to learn that San Francisco, one of the most far-Left cities in America, has private TSA screeners and not government workers at their international airport. And surprise - it works. The lines move faster, the employees are happier and do a better job. So why don't other airports do the same? Unelected government bureaucrats.

They participate in some program TSA offers where you can do this and having been there twice in the past two weeks flying from IAH I can say with confidence they do it better than everyone else.

Yeah SF is doing something better than the rest of the country. That’s pretty fricking sad.

Taking government out makes things work better? I’m shocked

Does TSA need government oversight or is this just another of the many things that should be privatized? Who wants to step up and try it with mail?

Yep. Should be operated by and funded by the airports and airlines

TSA is paid for by ticket fees. It shouldn’t be hard to just tell the airlines to handle it and have the govt step away.

Remember when that TSA Fee that is added to your plane ticket went to fund the TSA directly instead of going into the General Fund? I remember.

Blame it on the Congress Critters, as usual.

Nah. It’s actually great. The city has been getting its shite together recently. Everybody makes mistakes. Learning from them is key.

Interesting choice of words given all the homeless issues there.

I would assume it's great as long as the contract is funded. Once the contract period runs out...

There’s less actual shite on the sidewalks but there’s still a long way to go.

I did hear a cop tell a crack head who was harassing us to “leave that shite alone… and pull up your pants”. So that’s a step in the right direction.

They opted out. Some airports did.

Sure, let’s start paying $1000/ticket for domestic flights

That’s already here. Iah to sfo cost me over 1K the last two weeks. And we haven’t even gotten the big fuel cost increases yet.

Isn’t TSA funding already incorporated into current ticket prices?

Also, I’d rather just completely remove TSA at airports all together and go back to the 90’s

SFO is still an absolute zoo.

I have flown out at least a dozen times. Domestic and international in the last 5 years while doing anything within my power to avoid using SFO.

If you think azn women are bad drivers, wait until you encounter them as international air travelers.

Let’s do a quick mind exercise here hypothetically speaking.

So you would rather have your taxes cover airport security and keep ticket prices more reasonable?

You must like rolling the dice not knowing if you’ll end up on soul plane.

The folks that have zero skin in the game when it comes to paying taxes are the last ones that you want sitting next to you in an airplane

Google says there's like twenty airports with private security working under TSA supervision.
