According to Nintendo insider Natthehate it is happening

“But there is another anniversary this year, and it’s the anniversary of The Legend of Zelda… what I can share with you today is that in the second half of 2026, approaching the holidays, we are going to receive an Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2.”

That's one way to get people to buy a Switch 2.

This sounds like an instant buy for me!! I love Ocarina of Time but I never meshed that well with the controls. If this has modern camera controls... oh man!!

Anddd this would be a reason why I’d consider buying a switch 2.

I hope its a true remake and not just an updated port. This would be a Day One purchase for me.

Then all I need is a Link to the Past remake and I'd be content for life.

I'd be so in.

ETA: Assuming it's actually a remake. I don't need a repackaging.

You can already play the original on their subscription service, this will be a remake.

Meh, it was unique, thats for sure. I can say it made gameplay a different experience, oftentimes in a great way. I couldn't imagine playing Starfox64 on a more standard controller.

Wouldn't be worth it for a repackaging. You can already play the original game on Switch if you have the $30 a year online subscription.

I loved Shadows of the Empire and Rogue Squadron but that controller was quite literally the worst in Nintendo's history.

The Link's Awakening remake was cartoonish at best vs. the original. Wouldn't expect this to be all that different. But I can see how people would be suckered into buying this

Meh, I disagree. Because of the period in gaming history, Nintendo had no idea which direction inputs would go. So, it created a controller that could meet different input styles based on how you held it. Hold it on the two outside grips and put your thumb on A/B? You've got an NES input scheme. Hold it on the two outside grips and put your thumb on the yellow arrow buttons? You've got an SNES input scheme. Move your left hand from the left grip to the middle grip and now you've got NES or SNES input schemes, but with an analog 3D joystick instead of a digital Dpad. It's actually clever as shite.

Now, was moving through 3D space with a single analog stick less than ideal? Sure, but this was the first time we were moving through 3D space. We were figuring things out as we went. Most of the complaints I see about the controller are really complaints about the growing pains as we learned what did and didn't work. The rest of the complaints are from games who decides "look at all the buttons; I'm going to use all the buttons!" which was never what the controller was designed for. It was designed for choice of input, not as a unified input system. But people ignore that, which is why people shite on the N64 controller and yet seemingly never have anything negative to say about the original PS1 controller.

The OG Playstation controller was less than ideal. There's a reason the advent of the Dual Shock scheme was a quantum leap forward that became the gold standard & all controllers worth a damn since have kept the same basic structure.

No doubt. Definitely not saying I want to go back to an N64 controller. I simply object to people who act like it's worse than an SNES or PS1 controller when you can use it exactly like those two controllers if you want to. You simply have the additional option of using the analog stick if you want to.

I may be on an island, but I never remember using the N64 controller in left-hand-middle prong mode, even for the analog stick.
