What you have to understand about NC State is that they sold their soul for a basketball championship in 1983. They've had a lot of misfortune since then, which is commonly called "NC State shite." The latest chapter is that they dominated their rival, UNC, but then they lose in the play-in game of the NCAA tournament, and their coach leaves for LSU. Classic State shite.

They cannot fathom that anyone might think LSU superior in any way. They act as if we somehow covet their approval, and tremble at their condescension.

We eat bugs that come out of ditch mud, and like it. We don’t gaf what you think.

I could see why they would think the late season collapse was caused by Wade's interest in LSU.

Here's the timeline:

Wade would have returned to LSU at the end of LAST season. Woodward and Tate made it clear that as long as they were in charge that was NOT happening.

With the LSU door closed, Wade took the best major conf. job available to him, NC State. With the LSU door closed, he was 100% "in" on the NC State job and had no plans to leave for a school who had just told him they weren't going to hire him.

Then the LA political machine got involved and moved the chess pieces to open the door for a return.

This wasn't (primarily) about money, or a longing desire to be at LSU. It was that LSU did what NO OTHER SCHOOL in America would do. LSU changed the administration to accommodate Wade. Wade wasn't the only reason Tate and Woodward were pushed out. But getting Wade back to LSU was definitely part of the calculus

When a school goes to those lengths to get you...you go. Short of hiring Rouse and Schroyer themselves, there was nothing NC State could do to prevent this. To the extent their AD was caught with his pants down by this move, then that is on him. The signs of this coming have been glaring for months

Well put I know the national media wasn't paying attention. Any LSU fan paying attention could see what was being lined up.

Bring on the lawsuits. No official comms between Wade and LSU AD. That’s what agents are for. If Schroyer is talking to a buddy about his job isn’t that just a conversation between friends? I bet they didnt speak after Schroyer was hired.

Yeah the AD telling the fans that he is as shocked as they are is a terrible look. Makes him look incompetent and like he has no clue whats going on in his own athletic department. Maybe lie and say you had a feeling and started vetting coaches weeks ago, even if thats not true.

NC State fans already had a lot of baggage:

1. Double dose of little brother syndrome from being overshadowed by UNC and Duke for decades.

2. Longing for the glory days of their last natties decades ago.

And now they've been painfully reminded of their place in the pecking order of college sports.

It's gonna take them some time.

Great point. He seems like a good guy. But Wade's non-answer in the "oh is the LSU job open?" presser should have perked his ears up, for sure.

Would be an entertaining courtroom. Are they going to sue McNeese too for Wade talking to a McNeese employee about leaving for LSU?

It’s just things that tier 3 level programs say when tier 1 programs come take their toys away.

Ole Miss is familiar with this

Great news for us if he has been working on his roster here for the last month. He probably contacted some of our players about staying with him and that caused our collapse down the stretch and caused us to miss the tourney. Lol
