Why were so many guys on here saying we can’t afford Wade and to forget it?

Were they just a bunch of leftover eunuchs from Scott Woodward’s royal court?

You would think that the Lane Kiffin scenario would have taught everyone a lesson, but it didn’t.

Money is no object to LSU in the pursuit of its goals. We have enough rich people in our fanbase to get what we want.

We’re passionate about winning and we want to to do it now. Never say never when we want something bad enough.

People are retarded. Numerous people on here swore we wouldn't buy out BK and we were stuck with him for at least another year or two because of the $$$. LSU bought him out and then somehow people thought buying out McMahon wasn't happening because of it being too expensive. What? When LSU is dead-last in one of the big 3 sports, they will find a way to make it happen and fire a coach.

Part of college athletics in the NIL era is pretending you are as poor as hell... but really having Ritchie Rich money.

Why are yall unable to understand that things change? Two weeks ago, there was no money committed to make this happen. Landry got some folks to come up with the money this past week. its not difficult.

Agree. The best way usually to predict future behavior is to look at past behavior. Never seen LSU put this much into the sport. Just start with the PMAC which even Mulkey can’t get them to replace in a timely manner if ever.

We don't have the cash to pay for all of these big moves we're making right now. They're banking on bringing in a huge amount of additional income to pay for it over the life of the coaches contracts, whether from corporate sponsors, media rights, or fan spending.

It's not generally wise to operate a business that way, but maybe they're super confident that it's going to work out, and it very well could.

I'll say this:
I never thought it was about money. I just didn't think LSU would rehire a coach they fired with cause, even if administration had changed.

And I didn't think a guy who was fired somewhere, and whose star seems to be rising, would go back to a place that fired him.

So kind of how almost every business operates. Relying on future income to pay for future obligations?

Virtually every business operates that way to an extent. Particularly when they are making big changes or starting up. Every coaching hire is like a startup or restructure unless the previous coach has retired (without being forced out). There is almost always significant capital outlay requiring money not yet in hand.

Of course they are. From a money perspective, for the department as a whole, it will all hinge on football, as it always has. Basketball can help, and if I can no longer get mid-level center court seats from the LSUtix site the day of a men's basketball game to sit on a half-empty row in a 35% or less filled section, that will be an indication that Basketball is generating significantly more direct income.

Any time there’s a major coaching change there’s a contingent here that insists that we’re dirt poor despite all evidence to the contrary. They were also melting that when we hired Verge every hire was going to be cheap and the athletic department would be in shambles. “Get ready to go back to the Hallman days,” I think it went.
