I'll cite a couple of examples bookmarked to the offending part.

I took choir for a hot minute as a kid and our director was MILITANT about not slurring the introduction to the word 'you' when singing. i can never get that out of my head now when listening.

What about if it’s intentionally “chu”?

I actually think about this more than I should. I can't think of the songs right now, but some will come to me.

CAD, I have the ultimate example for you that I have always remarked on: Poison's "I Won't Forget You".

In the chorus, Michaels gives it the full "CHEW"...but the twist is, the backup singers immediately follow with a crystal clear "YOUUUU"

LOL

This is probably the greatest power ballad of all time.

At a certain point, vocals in a pop or rock song is an instrument and vocalization is an instrumental choice to fit the music.

Since I cannot sing, I will not judge.

As another choir kid, this is also a major pet peeve of mine.

You won't find a better example of this than "2 occasions " by THE DEEL.

I can't imagine being up in arms about something this trivial. But then, I much prefer vocals with a normal-talking-style delivery as opposed to vocals with a professional-singer-style.

you say that now, but i just planted the seed

now whenever you hear CHEW instead of YOU its going to slowly drive you insane

that new order song alone can set me off. about 20 CHEWs in 30 seconds.

and that's easily in my top 10 albums of all time.

No love on my Poison one? It's like a study in the effect you are highlighting.

What about this one? It seems designed specifically to invoke conversation in this thread.
