Here is how the Basketball buyouts break down

If LSU decides to hire Wade, they have to pay a pair of buyouts.
One would be McMahon’s roughly $8 million buyout with three years left on his contract.
The other is Wade’s, so he can leave NC State after one year. LSU would have to pay NC State $5 million for Wade’s buyout. However, that price tag drops to $3 million after April 1.
The transfer portal window also opens officially on April 7.
I wouldnt expect anything to happen until after April 1st...obviously

Raleigh is burning right now. Don't think anyone is going to want to wait until April. In everyone's best interest to go ahead with the $3 million right now.

you forgot to mention that CMM's buyout is not paid lump sum but in installments

Feels like the dam is going to break and things will have to move forward before April, similar to LSU dropping the lawsuit on Kelly to finish the deal for Kiffin.

That one is divided monthly over the next three years. To me that is manageable. If they are firing him, waiting is not a requirement, though they may not want to until they have the deal ready to go so there is no real time for media speculation.
The WW buyout is a lump sum, so the 2 mill drop makes waiting worth it.
