He used to have his fingers on the pulse, then he had to put them elsewhere. . .

Kind of an odd statement since he liked the movie version of Stardust, which took some liberties with the book material. Real shame he ended up being such a creep because I considered him the best storyteller in the world at one point. Disney was going to make The Graveyard Book (excellent) a movie but had to shutter the project because of the allegations. Just as well because they would have butchered it.

Shocked he was so based. And accurate.,

In my top 3 favorite authors.
Absolutely trash human.
He and his parents' ties to scientology were fricked up enough before all the last allegations.

He allegedly enslaved someone?

He had a nanny from Poland that he allegedly coerced into sexual relations by threatening deportation and stuff. Civil case was filed against him in Wisconsin and New York and some other state but it was thrown out as the alleged abuse occurred in New Zealand and so needed to be brought there.
He has maintained everything was consensual and his was corroborated that but who knows?

Nothing he said was incorrect.
A well-done IP creates fans because of the IP's quality. A lot of Hollywood writers, directors and producers are really just using those vehicles to stroke their own egos, that ego is what drives them to re-tell these stories in their way instead of the original author's way.

I've always wondered what the heck was wrong with these Hollywood writers and producers. Most of the time, if they are making a movie from outside source material (like a book), it is because it is really popular and has lots of fans. Why in the world do they think they are so great that they can change the material and write it different and end up with something better? It is delusional and it almost never works. I just don't get the hubris of these folks.

This isn’t the Book Board so I don’t want to dive too deep in, but I loved Good Omens, Neverwhere, Anansi Boys, and The Ocean at the End of the Lane. The Sandman Comics are fantastic.
American Gods was my favorite novel for a while.

Let's not be too quick to rush to judgement. I know I was guilty of taking the media's word for it, at first glance.
For your consideration: Neil Gaiman Is Innocent: Introduction
quote:
The claimants were not who they said they were. A ‘‘homeless, broke drifter’’ turned out to be the daughter of a CEO, not estranged but living it up on her father’s yacht.
A penniless mother of three turned out to be a celebrity’s ceramicist who hung out with the likes of Mark Zuckerberg and Michael Stipe.
Even more concerning, one of the accusers was best friends with the lead reporter Rachel Johnson. A serious conflict of interest that was never disclosed in Master.
And all this was just the tip of the iceberg. Just what I could glean from conversations and the available articles and podcasts, social media accounts and long archived documents. I suspected there was even more going on that I was not aware of.
I began to see this as an orchestrated takedown with a political agenda behind it, and people who had known Neil Gaiman for decades appeared to echo that assessment. Some of the accusers had backing from someone extremely wealthy, but we could only guess at who.
In this series you will find evidence that the public has been lied to. You will see a lot that is overall suggestive of ideological motives. It contains argument, occasional speculation. It also contains my thought and opinion.

Neverwhere,
I still hold out hope that the smoke will clear on all this, and Gaiman will be able to produce an HBO-style adaptation of Neverwhere on TV. A solid, three season run should do it justice.

I haven't read the entire blog series, but just the introduction alone is totally nuts. The man was clearly railroaded, and nobody seemed to care.

I stand corrected. I still hope Disney doesn't get to make The Graveyard book. Neil should tell them to f(*$# off.
