And people really think $35 mil per for Olave will be a lot. xD

Not comparing the 2, but between the cap rising dramatically and receivers being overvalued, this is the new WR market. Even at $35 mil per he will wind up the 15th highest per year before a snap is taken in the 2027 season, if that.

Also, I wouldn't call this post N/S as it definitely relates to Olave and the extension he will get.

It's not, but that is the average of the guarantees over the period, which is what it seems like he was trying to get across.

Also, guaranteed doesn't mean fully guaranteed. We would need the details to see the structure.

which is not how it works bone.

those guarantees are built largely in the 3 years leaving the 4th year optional for the time being.

Yes I literally said it's not how it works. Don't be dense. xD

He was just conveying what that would average out to if you spread it over the whole contract. More realistically it's likely closer to $38 mil guaranteed per, with the rest of the guarantees in the final year because of the signing bonus.

You are correct…..it depends on how much was given to him up front as to how many of the years are guaranteed……they hadn’t released that yet

JSN’s best season is +630 yards compared to Olave’s and he has a yardage title. You’re talking a different tier of WR. Same thing at OSU. If anything you bring this deal to the table to negotiate against Olave

I know it has been hashed out to death, but Olave’s situation is tough.

Good player, with a significant concussion history, in an inflated WR market.

The market value is the market value, but if he has another significant head injury,, it would be a huge setback for a team that is working its way out of dead money contract. Most fans still feel the Mike Thomas situation. Not exactly the same, but similar to the draft.

The only choice the Saints have is to paid Olave or try to hit WRs repeatedly in the draft, sign older or mid tier vets, and try to piece it together.

it ain't really that tough.

Pierce' contract with indy should be a mirror of what numbers make sense for Saints. Maybe marginally increase it for appearances but call it a day.

Its semi dangerous game for Olave to go year by year for 2 more years but i'm sure that's fine with Saints if he wants to go down that uncomfortable path.

30M-35M seems like a solid deal. Especially if we can fill in WR2-WR5 with cheap effective options.

I’ll say it. I’d trade Olave immediately before getting close to that contract.

If he is that good and worth that much money, the trade return should be really good for the Saints.

Those that say but he is only specifically good for Shough, I’m still not paying Olave that type $$$.

If I’m wrong , I’m wrong. Saints won 6 games last season. Not sure they have any $120M guaranteed players on roster, they are still adding talent.
