On this day 36 years ago today, President George H.W. Bush declares to reporters his disdain for broccoli and vows to never eat broccoli again.

admire him for being a volunteer carrier pilot and almost being cannabalized, but he got put in the front of the line when he wasn’t qualified because of, Bush, then his son got the same treatment during the Vietnam war, and he went AWOL when it was time to pay for those flying lessons

The long kind (broccolini?) grilled to a light char with salt, pepper, lemon juice is a nice little side dish.
