It’s ok to think highly of JJ and not want him fired but still be observant of some of the misses this season. I think he’s a phenomenal coach and his competitiveness will work to fix the problems. I really don’t think we’re out of anything yet but margins keep getting smaller.
2 observations…defensively the staff hasn’t prepared for additional options especially at 1B. I love giving Serna a go there but he whiffed on the cut and it cost us. Second we’re mid way through the season. With the fall and half of the season to not have settled on our infield is a huge miss. Clearly the kids aren’t hitting but we have no clue who our starting infield should be. Other than Milam the rest is a complete guess both offensively and defensively. To me that’s on the coaches. At some point he’s going to have to settle on a guy either for offensive or defensive.
Love JJ but as a staff they need to do better.

It’s as if there not “total Buy in”

Geez, we win 2 out 3 nattys and Jay gets criticized when his returning star players aren’t performing.
This isn’t on Jay. This is on players that aren’t performing under performing.

Things aren’t going well, no argument, but baseball momentum is fickle. It doesn’t take much to lose it and it also doesn’t take too much to get it back. There are a lot of question marks at current but let’s see how things play out before we put a final valuation on this team

Yes they were. One was a guy bitching because saban was doing commercials during halftime.

When he starts a kid at 1B that clearly hasn’t gotten reps at 1B and misses a basic cut for a 1B that’s on the coaches. You can’t blame Serna. Kid is a star. He’s young and introduced at a new position and looked like he’s never been coached on what to do there. When you take a freshman that’s played his whole career at SS and move him to 2B you can’t blame the kid. For people to be saying Ruckert should hit the portal have no clue what they are talking about. I’ve seen the kid play throughout HS. Kid is a star. He’s young. He’s exactly what we need here. But the coaches aren’t preparing the kids for the situations they’re putting them in. Full confidence in JJ to figure it out but this is on JJ and his staff. Clearly the kids need to perform better but it’s also abundantly clear their preparation isn’t there either. That’s on the coaches. High standards here. Accountability has the high for both coaches and players.

And you know Jay isn’t coaching this stuff you mention in practice how? You don’t.
Nobody is hitting, that’s the problem.
On avg you need 7 runs to win an SEC game. He’s trying to find guys that can get it done on offense. That requires taking a few chances in the field. This isn’t the first year he’s taking some chances like this. Great coaches play hunches and experiment based on what they see in practice that none of us are seeing. Your 12U ball second guessing is cute, but I trust the guy that has been to Omaha. In the end, players have to perform. They aren’t.

I think he's doing the best anyone could here. He's found our 3B IMO in Pearson, who we knew could hit but starting him there was probably a surprise to everyone and came to be because others weren't getting it done.
Dar Dar and Simpson by all accounts were productive last season and should be having impacts, but neither can lock up a spot. Both can play 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and have last year. It was always going to come down to who brings the most offensively. Right now Carraway may be the best. Both have had looks, but I'd like to see more of Simpson.

You can't win it all every year. With turnover, its gets harder.

Nah man. According to this board JJ is a god and how dare you question him

It beats being a SC baseball fan right now.

It didn't cost us anything.

If Dardar was the everyday 2B and going 0-4 with 2 errors, you'd say the coaches need to replace him.
Jay is doing what he always does. He is putting a bunch of guys out there and seeing which of those guys will take the open spot.
In 23 he did it multiple times. Dugas took 2B as soon as he could. Then Beloso took the DH position. Then Travinski took the C position. No one took RF, so Jobert and Pearson rotated.
in 24 he did it with the entire outfield. He also had to do it with catcher, because no one (Neal, Milazzo, Travinski) took hold of the job.
Last year he did it first with catcher and Hernandez took control. Then with RF, he rotated Pearson and Brown. He gave Reaves the chance at 3B, but Brasswell took that from him.
None of this is new. He does this every year. Most years, players take control of positions. Sometimes, that won't happen. It is what it is in the portal era.

Most of the time, though, it's just retarded sky screaming.

So much supposition and utter BS was typed out in the above. If you would have paid attention to any of the fall or pre-season work-outs/scrimmages you would know that Serna played at 1B on multiple occasions and that Ruckert played 2B on many occasions. This is not including the practice session in which it is a safe assumption that cross-training took place, because it does.
As to Ruckert being a "star", the jury is definitely still out on that one. Kid may have been great in HS, but he has not flashed anything on the collegiate level up to this point.

Yeah man. If he doesn’t win a championship soon… like by next year… he needs to be out.
