Heard today LSU going to close the LSU golf course on May 9th -end of semester
Wonder where the 16.000 annual rounds are going to go?

If they want a public course they will go to Webb or City Park. If they have deeper pockets, the list expands.

LSU is an agronomy school. No idea how they don’t have classes that work on the course and run it.

That’s true. And with BREC looking to do away with City Park, the remaining public courses are going to be crowded as hell.

The LSU golf course has always been a travesty. I don’t get why other SEC schools can have nice courses for students, but LSU wants nothing to do with it.

Besides A&M & UGA what other schools have nice courses for students?
Don’t say Bostick or Jimmie Austin. It’s like $3,500/yr for students.

Don't know about the LSU course but will just say that once golf course land is lost you can't get it back.
This here was a tragedy, IMO. Really liked this course. 96 years old.
University of Minnesota closes golf course

In the SEC? I’m about 99% sure A&M, UGA, and Miss St. are the only schools that keep a golf course for public use that doesn’t also have the practice facilities for the golf team.

I did grad school at Clemson and got to play the Walker Course for 4 years at student rate.
That course was so badass. Bent greens. Amazing shape.

It’s the same enigma that is Baton Rouge golf. It’s just not supported here for some odd reason.

Another example of public land being turned over to private development entities. The same will happen to City Park if BRAF has its way.

Squire is not part on Tech, the club allows the team to play. Just like ULM gets to play Bayou DeSiard.

Curious where you got 16k rounds from?

Played the Rawls at Texas tech and it was incredible. Paid like $200 a few years back or whatever. With the surge in popularity they could make it nice and charge $$$ for it
