He’s not allowed to. It violates the Anti-Deficiency Act.
But he knew that before offering…

I don’t know if you’re being sarcastic or what but
Anyone can give someone else a financial gift

Try again... Was a big deal during the Oct shutdown.
Bc of the line of work, they cannot accept outside $$$ due to security. They can't accept tips or anything. Those that wanted to help them were asked to donate snacks and the likes to the airport and it was put in their break rooms.
ETA: What he can do is cut a check to the govt and then it be paid out via them, but I have a feeling that with the shutdown, those funds would be locked down anyway.

My local airport was taking donations, it was on our news.
Just looked at the details- it was for anything but cash. Gift cards were acceptable.
That's shitty that their salaries can't be paid by an American with the means to help.

It isn’t about the payroll for TSA.
It’s about throwing sand in the gears ….

And they were put in a pool and raffled away. There can't be any direct form of payment to an agent.

There is an exception during a government shutdown

The airport website says the following
quote:
Currently, CAE does not have an end date for the donation drive. The airport will continue to monitor the partial government shutdown and plan accordingly.
Every donation will go directly to a CAE TSA agent. CAE encourages both travelers and non-travelers to join in the effort to support its TSA and CBP agents.

Yes, as in it won't go to other airport employees. It is raffled off within the TSA agents.

What does this mean? I associate raffles with buying tickets to earn the opportunity to perhaps win something.

You're wrong.
The Antideficiency Act (31 U.S.C. §§ 1341–1351) prohibits federal employees from obligating or spending money before it is appropriated by Congress or in excess of authorized amounts, preventing unauthorized expenditures. It mandates agency-wide administrative controls and imposes strict administrative (suspension, removal) and criminal penalties (fines, imprisonment) for violations.

It sounded real good and smart, though.

If they have 2 giftcards, those on that shift will have their names put in to win one of the two... Here are the rules around stuff like that.
TSA agents can accept small, unsolicited in-kind donations (food, essential supplies) or gift cards ($20 or less) to local restaurants/stores, but strict federal ethics rules forbid them from accepting cash, cash equivalents (like Visa gift cards), or tips at security checkpoints. Donations must generally be donated to the group, not individuals, and usually flow through organized airport pantries or supervisors.
Key Donation Rules for TSA Staff (Shutdown Guidelines)
Permitted Donations: Food, essential items (toiletries, baby formula), and gift cards for local restaurants, grocery stores, or gas stations.
Gift Card Value: Individual gift cards should generally be valued at $20 or less.
Prohibited Items: Cash, prepaid Visa/Mastercard/Vanilla gift cards, and any gift of cash equivalent.
Method of Donation: Do not hand items directly to officers at the checkpoint. Instead, drop items off at designated airport donation sites or with a supervisor to ensure equitable distribution.
Individual Limits: Agents are generally restricted from accepting gifts from one source totaling more than $20, with annual limits.

I don’t know if Elon can or can’t do this; I’ll have to defer to SFP on this legal technicality. But I can say with 100% certainty that libtards are pissed that he even made such an offer.

If I were Trump I would call Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries to a meeting in the oval to discuss. I would invite the press in. In the middle of the meeting I would bring in some TSA employees to tell what they are going through. Let them ask Schumer and Jeffries to explain why they are doing this to their faces.

Besides, do we really need TSA? I think it is horrible and that burden, if one must have, should be on the airport or the airlines.

Pretty sure he fronted military salaries during the last shutdown.
