Is this one of the most boring opening rounds ever?

I know there were still some upsets but it feels like there are so many more blowouts this year compared to previous

There were 17 1st round games that were 15+ point wins last year. 7 so far this year.

It took 33 years for a 16 seed to finally beat a 1 seed and then it happened soon after in 2023...so enter NIL which said, yeah we're done with parity, this sport was opening up too much.

LSU better do something about their basketball program. Being at the bottom, they are completely missing out on some fun/historic SEC basketball.

I think we will see some surprises in the second round.

I don't think there is much separation between the top 15 or so teams in the country

Last year was the worst tournament in the history of the tournament. This year has been boring but not that boring

I feel like NIL has increased the parity in college football but decreased it in college basketball.

Seeds 13 thru 16 are 0-32 the last 2 years. NIL/Rev Share has killed the upset.

It’s brought parity to the top 40 teams that are all paying salaries. But the low majors that are paying nothing don’t have much of a shot anymore.

I’m pretty new to CBB but the auto bid for the conference tourney winners needs to be done away with. Some of those teams have no business being in the tournament.

No upsets from day 2 (don't count 9 beating an 8). Outside of a couple games today, the bulk of the best games thus far were day 1.

It's pretty chalky but the games have been good. The dog just hasn't been able to close out the games.

The second round and sweet 16 should be good. The lone Cinderella is a 32 win High Point team. I don’t see any “why are you here” teams in the field.

it was like this last year too, upsets are going to be more rare due to NIL. only 1 double digit seed made it to the sweet 16 last year and it was arkansas with Callipari so it really wasnt a huge surprise

Yeah, as cool as Round 1 upsets are, they usually lead to dog shite Round 2 games.

You're going to see crazy blowouts with the 16-seeds, especially with the two or three weakest (likely the biggest gap between the top 16 seed and the worst 16 seed - Siena would destroy Prairie View). Look for more 40-50+ point blowouts in opening rounds.

Yes, other than the #9 seeds beating the #8 seeds, very few upsets and not that many close games.

I hope things get a bit less predictable in the round of 32.

Last year was basically the worst year ever for upsets

Not sure why you're getting downvoted for posting actual stats.

But you are correct. Not just NIL, but the portal too. The best players in low-majors are not going to stick around when they can bounce to a top 25 team after one good season. It is what it is at this point.
