No link. Just now in Pentagon briefing on Fox.
I think he said their targets are fast attack boats or something. Don’t recall specifically.

Of course they are great planes. They were designed by the Luftwaffe

WWiI era design? Really? You expect me to believe that?

A Stuka pilot used it to kill tanks in WW2. When they were designing it in the 60s, they went to him for help on design because what he did was legendary. Read it years ago on WSJ

The entire airframe was built around the GAU-8 30mm main gun. It was designed to be a flying gun.
If you are making reference to the Henschel Hs 129 you need to review your history and study ordnance more carefully. It was a complete FLOP.

It was great when they would fly overhead out of the air station in Belle Chase.

I am sure it’s because a grew up near Barksdale and often saw these flying through the country side I grew up in, but I have always loved these planes. They are just amazing timeless workhorses that are superb at what they were designed to do.

A-10’s were remodeled making them more lethal than the original model. These are the new air frames.

And the AF constantly wants to retire them because CAS isn’t sexy. They should just turn them over to AFSOC.

I love those things - will never forget my first sighing - was fishing on Lake Vernon when one came over at treetop level - was the strangest aircraft I'd ever seen actually flying in the air.

they were clever weren't they??

One flew about 100' over the top of the treeline of a pipeline I was hunting in Bienville Parish. I was on my deer stand and didn't hear it at all until suddenly I did! The pilot flew right over me and I didn't hear the aircraft until it was right there. Startled the hell of me.

Describes design competition and later development after deployment.
All airplanes look a little bit alike. But are not designed after each other….Duh

My last assignment before I retired I lived close enough to a live fire range that I could here them doing their target practice.
