Two Types of TDS and Something New...What Will Win Out With Maga?

Everyone is familiar with the term TDS, but most only recognize it as Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Blaming Trump for everything. We saw this emerge starting in 2016 during Trump's first term.

Blinded by hatred, people with TDS are literally incapable of relating to Trump objectively or acknowledging anything positive about him. Melting down in emotional rants about everything he does, when if it had been anyone else doing the same thing they wouldn't have reacted. Like in those YouTube videos where some blogger asks college kids what they think about quotes that they attribute to Trump and they all rant about them, then they reveal that it was Biden or Clinton or Sanders or someone else who said them.

Then there's a different kind of TDS: Trump Deification Syndrome. People with this sort of TDS are the mirror image of people with the original type of TDS.

They also are incapable of relating to Trump objectively, only they melt down in an emotional rant if anyone criticizes Trump about anything.

They are incapable of acknowledging anything negative about Trump, and will cheer things that Trump does when, if it had been someone else doing it, they would have been incensed by it. Like when Huckster Carlson convinced MAGA that we ought to follow the foreign policy of Jimmy Carter and for six years MAGA screamed any time they even suspect anybody wanted to engage in a military intervention anywhere, and in one single day 80% of MAGA decided that that was all bullshite because Trump started engaging in military interventions.

So two types of TDS that exactly mirror each other.

We all know that the leftist base is infected with the first type and MAGA is infected with the second type. Like diabetes, we'll call them Type 1 TDS and Type 2 TDS.

But here's the thing. Pretty much the entire left has Type 1. Bill Maher is about the only leftist I can think of who doesn't, and he still kind of does. We'll say he's only got a mild case.

But all of that brainwashing that Huckster did so successfully for so long has caused a rift in MAGA, because he and Candace Owens and a few other influencers have introduced a third disease that renders people infected with it incapable of objectivity or connection with reality: Israel Derangement Syndrome, or IDS.

And IDS has split MAGA, because Trump recognizes (correctly) that it is generally in the interest of the US to support Israel.

It's definitely not an even split...maybe it's 80-20, 70-30, something like that, but in the minority of cases, IDS seems stronger than type 2 TDS. Those people irrationally hate Israel more than they irrationally love Trump.

This is a significant development, because prior to IDS nothing seemed able to cause people with type 2 TDS to blink. I think it's because there is an inherent conspiracy theory attached to IDS, and populists can't do without conspiracy theories any more than fish can do without water. I think that Type 1 TDS is so pervasive among the left because they attach all kinds of conspiracy theories to Trump as well.

So it's very interesting to see. Will IDS continue to spread throughout MAGA, overcoming and replacing Type 2 TDS? Will the ratio of those with IDS vs Type 2 TDS continue to tip? 80-20, then 70-30, then 60-40, then 50-50? Will that happen the longer the Iran conflict goes on?
