Maybe he will, but this kind of talk reminds of me the Kiffin doubters.

Not everyone hates McMahon. He’s been dreamer a tough hand each season.

He might stay but it’s unwise.

They are the third choice at best in their own state. Duke and UNC won’t be passed ever and they hold more sway in the gov.

The acc is going to an unequal revenue share model and NC state isn’t in the top tier for media rights.

The acc is on the verge of crumbling and NC state isn’t an attractive school to the big 10 or sec.

It’s a place that should be escaped in this changing land scape

Major conf to major conf hires don't happen as (relative for scale) frequently in basketball. Most LSU fans have this football mentality that the only path to success is paying a fortune to poach a highly successful coach from another major conf. school and that hiring a coach from a mid-major school is "cheap" and reflective of a lack of care. Take Wade out of the equation and it is very ulikely LSU would hire a HC from a major conf. program.

Over the last two seasons these are the major to major coaching hires

Pope (BYU) to Kentucky
Calipari (UK) to Arkansas
Musselman (Ark) to USC
Enfield (USC) to SMU
DeVires (WVU) to Indiana
Williams (A&M) to Maryland
Miller (Xavier) to Texas

Some notes:

Pope was UK's 6th, 7th, 8th, choice after failing to land a "big fish" with as much money and prestige of anyone in the sport. Arkansas ended up with Cal because Musselman wanted to leave and Kentucky wanted Cal to leave. If you look at that list, only Cal had a really good season. UK fans are already tired of Pope. DeVires didn't make the NCAAT at Indiana and Williams somehow had a far worse season at Maryland that McMahon had at LSU.

Could LSU hold out for a major conf. coach who has worn out their welcome at their current school like Cal, or in past years Barnes, Smart, etc. Maybe. Could they hope scandal forces out a good coach somewhere else like Pearl, Pitino, Beard? Maybe. But NONE of those paths are certain to happen.

Wade is unique for LSU because he's a winning HC (Never had a losing season. 8 NCAA Tournament appearances with 4 different schools, etc) who is a known commodity AT LSU (highest career winning % in 100 years). He's a known and LIKED commodity by LSU BASKETBALL fans, not just the casual basketball fans or those who are just interested in going against the crowd with a contrarian position. He also already has a donor network in LA having worked/lived in the state 7 of the last 9 years. For a program that is currently at one of, maybe its lowest point of apathy in decades, Wade immediately excites the fanbase like no other likely candidate could.

The likely "floor" for Wade based upon all of the information we have is higher than any coach LSU could REASONABLY hire. That doesn't mean LSU is guaranteed a championship or even Final Four under him. That doesn't mean there isn't going to be a mid-major coach right now who will soon be the next Golden, May, Oats, Odum, Hurley, etc. But when you are playing the odds in a market that is inherently uncertain, Wade provides LSU with the most "certainty" of any likely candidate.

If I'm the AD I'm not giving Wade a Kiffin like contract (second highest pd. HC in the country...despite only one career CFP appearance). But if I can get him at a reasonable number, I take it.

Great coaches overcome "tough hands". Good coaches make the best of "tough hands". Bad coaches consistently finish last or second to last and blame "tough hands" for the results. Four years of "tough hands" kind of seems like a statistical anomaly. So maybe McMahon is just cursed. The Charlie Brown of college basketball. But even if so, let him go be the Charlie Brown of college basketball elsewhere. It would save the gullible fools who repeat same cycle every year: losing season>best roster he's ever had (in June) > wins vs. and awful non conf. schedule > dominated in SEC play, from having Lucy pull the football out from under them again, and again, and again

Salt, you're trying to lose logic and reason with these good ole boys. All they know is " I ain't NEVAH goin back to that beetch who dumped me, why would Wade!!!"

Every single word in your post hit the bullseye DIRECTLY.

OF COURSE nothing is guaranteed. But I would be shocked if Wade stayed at NC state and spurned LSU. There is no logical reason for him to do so, and I KNOW he's no dummy.

Well, the beetches that dumped him (Woodward and Tate) are nowhere to be found on campus now.
