Sears was a horrible candidate, and lots of people voted for Spanberger b/c she ran as a moderate. Buyer's remorse should result in some snapback elections like this.

This is true, Sears had a not great electoral track record.
She was picked to add diversity to the ticket as Lt governor.
Her lone victory as a politician was a state house seat way back in 2001.
