26 years old playing in March Madness - this is the future of college sports

If I were a mid major - I’d get a team of super tough semi pro Eastern European dues with eligibility ages 26-29 and make an elite 8 every year - I’d expect the average age of rosters to continue to rise till it hits close to 30 till it’s reigned in

no doubt, could dominate

And if I were a college football coach, I’d go after linemen in the CFL

You don’t think the P4 leagues are also looking for the same players with more NIL to throw them?

Did you even read the article? The guy worked at WalMart for three years out of high school and only started playing college basketball at the age of 22.

I dont think this is a case of eligibility rules run afoul. You don’t have to be 18-22 to play college sports

There is no age limit to playing sports in college, but surely you know that. As long as you get 5 to play 4, you can be 65 years old out there for all I care.

Good on this young man for living his dream

But there should be and it's ridiculous there's not, especially now that it's monetized.

It’s nowhere near that now.

This isn’t the hill to die on. A guy playing professionally overseas and then coming to play college ball is a completely different animal than a guy who worked for a few years after high school or a guy who played professional baseball coming back to college to play football (which has notably happened many times).

Chris Weinke won the Heisman, the national title at age 28 for FSU in 1999.

who cares about a player who averages 3 points a game living out his dream?

One off - maybe - but so is Trinidad or any of these guys - then why not let them all in of its about emotions? Imagine the sob stories some guy from the projects of Serbia or the Ukrane would have? If they are 6 10 and 289 and can consistently score and are 27… lets take a ton of them
