Here we go.

The DE includes all of Ouachita Parish and portions of Lincoln, Jackson, Union, Morehouse, Caldwell and Richland parishes. The existing CWD control area is being expanded to include these new areas.

While the DE is effective now, the implementation of the supplemental feeding and baiting prohibition will begin April 1.
Here we go.

This is where I mainly hunt public at. I’m curious as to how it will impact the hunting over the next few years. Maybe some more of the young ones will have a chance to grow. I’d assume the private land harvest numbers will go down due to the feed ban.

Nope. The yats from down south will shoot first horned thing they see thinking they wont get another chance all season with no corn pile

I think this might keep more of the deer on the refuges instead of them being lured onto private due to baiting. I’m hoping this leads to more mature deer overall. But if it does, word would get out and the public land could get pretty crowded. Either way, has a baiting ban worked anywhere else to keep CWD contained? If so, I’m ignorant to it.

If they ban feeding in the state will the price of a hunting lease go down drastically?

I know quite a few folks that hunt that area and I can guarantee they are not going to stop feeding

The center of the new mitigation zone looks to be Darbonne NWR. Anyone know anything about where the deer was killed?

The yats from down south will shoo

The dudes hunting corn piles in piney woods will start claiming that all the deer have been killed

Do you think CWD is new to that area?

Nope, now hunters have money they would have spent on feeding that they can now put toward leases.
If feeding bans worked then you wouldn't have new areas testing positive for CWD.
Possible upside: Deer should move around more looking for acorns and browse and less food available for hogs.
